Wow another great idea. While many guilds have their own symbols on the wiki. They should also appear during lockdown and in the guild hall
Guild Coat of Arms
I must agree to this. Guild Coat of Arms should be viewable in game. It took me a lot of effort to make the coat of arms for the guild that I created called the Aurora Nexus. It is viewable at : http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Aurora_Nexus_(Guild)
Yeah definitely, it would be great, especially with the guild logo i made http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Derp_%28Guild%29
If this does get some attention, I suggest havin' Guild equipment. Stuff like what Spyash mentioned, but more than just a costume.
Guild Equipment, like:
-Tabards
-Chapeau's?
-Masks
-Badges
-Shields(only works if costume shields are added)
-Guild accessories (like a Back Banner, or a small pack with the guild logo on it)
More love for guilds!
I'm in favour of Guilds getting custom regalia and a crest to go on it, but Three Rings are never going to allow for custom image uploads - the potential for abuse is far too high, especially considering how SK is marketed as an all-ages title.
Instead, I'd suggest something more akin to Halo's custom icon system, where players can assemble their own logos by layering and recolouring pre-set components.
(I actually mocked up some Guild gear for another thread a little while ago, using a random Gate icon as a Guild coat of arms - Tabard & Mask - Front Accessory - Illuminated Front Accessory. I made these literally hours before the Badge accessory debuted, mind, so the last two may not be viable ideas anymore.)
The range for preset symbols would have to be very great, though. At least, if OOO wants to get by with this system without too many complaints about lack of guild icon customization.
But on the plus side, they could make more of these icons and reuse them for, say, gates.
(By the way, I love your mock-ups to death, Effrul. Especially the Guild Mask and the Guild Chest-Shield.)
Man this is a pretty good idea. I like the thing of the guild equipment Alphastevo.
But the part of the Tabards, take it a step further. What about uniforms?
Different uniform for every rank in the guild.
Uniforms sound cool too. Even if thought they will probably cost a lot.
well for design it's could be a choice of colour and designs that the guild master(s) design.
it could be
recruit:badge
member:badge that glows
veteran:mask
officer:tabard
guild master(s):chapeau
the chapeau has the guild logo where the metal is (it's engraved in the metal)
The thing about having icon ranges is that a few simple additional variants reduce the necessary number of actual pictographs. Let's say, hypothetically, that there are ten icons. Ten icons isn't enough, but allow two icons to be layered atop each other and you've immediately got one hundred potential combinations. Allow both those layers the 24 available base colours and you've now got fifty-six hundred potential crest designs. Allow for other easily-implemented, but still strictly controlled variations - limited resizing (say, increments of 25%) and repositioning (say, a 3x3 grid of possible locations on the field, or even preset juxtapositions) and you've got who-knows-how-many more.
Nothin but good ideas goin on in here http://images.cheezburger.com/completestore/2009/12/17/12905546255115321...
I have a few questions though... (a little obvious to answer but wasn't mentioned by the contributors)
1.How would would we obtain the Tabard/Chapeaus?
2. Would they cost CE/Cr? if so, how much?^
3.Would Crest/Guild Symbol creation be ingame? (I say this because right now the only way is through a program and the game wiki ex;photoshop)
4. Would Crest/Guild Symbol creation cost CE/Cr? if so, how much?^
5.If Tabard/Chapeaus would naturally be out of reach by F2Players due to costs, then Guild Accessories would suffice right ? (primarily badges)
6.Would these Costumes/Accessories be taken away upon leaving the guild?or would they be recycled and be given a blank template and change color upon join another guild?
7. Can Badges be given upon given upon recruitment? (taken away just as easily upon leaving)
Finally, PLEASE! SOMEONE! GET A GUILD MESSAGE BOARD INGAME

Agreed^
CE/Cr prices would necessarily be down to Three Rings; I'd be surprised if there weren't some cost, as the game always needs Cr sinks and Three Rings' income from SK is dependent on CE. I imagine they'd be purchased from a Guild Hall quartermaster NPC.
Symbol assembly would be in-game; that way, Three Rings maintains complete control over the available symbols and layouts. As I mentioned, the problem with allowing players to simply upload their own custom images is that it'd be about nine seconds before something heinously inappropriate appeared. Normally this could be countered with the good ol' banstick, but when such activity potentially affects a great many people (as is the case with guild members) it becomes more complex. The reason I suggested the template-based system in the first place was so that icon creation could happen in-game. It also means that, whilst guilds can have very different crest designs, the Three Rings-designed shared elements would allow SK's overall art style to be maintained.
I don't see Guild apparel and accessories being mandatory uniform items, just cool extras for members, so if players couldn't afford particular items they'd have no pressing need to buy them. And yeah, I think they'd have to be removed if a player left the guild. It makes sense for guilds to try to keep retention up, offers an incentive for players to carefully consider their choice of guild, and, at the very least, means potentially more revenue for Three Rings from players who change guilds frequently and then want to buy all their uniform items back. Think of it this way - if you left a job at, say, a coffee shop, where the uniform was a black t-shirt with a logo on it, they'd make you give the shirt back if you left. They wouldn't just take the logo off and let you keep the shirt for your next job.
and on guild tabards and guild chapeaus
