Hopefully we'll get some wiki format to track this on there soon, but for now I'll make do with the forums. I'm going to be logging gate growths, hopefully to find some correlation between the bars and squares in the arcade and the levels that they produce in an effort to figure out how to read them. This thread is not for discussing individual rooms, but more so to understand the overall gate creation process rather than the intricate details.
Ideas:
* New gates start with one color already deposited into it. That deposit contributes a certain number of squares to the ring around the bars.
* The bars seem to represent the total number of minerals deposited proportional to the other minerals. Although the numbers have not been tested yet, a gate that has an equal amount of Crimsonite and Dark Matter should show both red and purple bars at the same height, but a gate with three times as much Moonstone as Valestone should show a blue bar three times the size of the green bar.
* The squares floating around the bars seem to match the bars during early deposits. I'm guessing if you took the time to add up the same colored squares from other gates and compare them to the bars they would match as well.
I'm starting with the Green Orb gate, and will be tracking it multiple times a day. I will also start tracking any new gates that come up.
Green Orb:

#2: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/File:GreenOrbImage2.PNG <- Change is one extra purple block.
Now, everyone, please keep this thread as clean as possible. I would hate to copy the forum rules directly from Something Awful, so please, if you don't have anything that contribute to this idea, please refrain from posting. Theories and conjectures are perfectly fine.

I can guarantee that I have seen two gates so far arrive with _ZERO_. All bars off -- not even stubs. No blocks floating around

Agreed. The total height seems to be constant, and the relative heights shows the relative mineral proportions
> * The squares floating around the bars seem to match the bars during early deposits. I'm guessing if you took the time to add up the same colored squares from other gates and compare them to the bars they would match as well.
HA. The bars either track total minerals, or blocks floating in the rings; I'm not sure which.
The blocks DO NOT MATCH minerals deposited. See my last post in the other gate construction theory thread.
Oh -- good luck with this thread. Don't be surprised if self appointed forum police tell you to post in the other thread.
I say: If you're going to try to organize construction of a gate, and/or reservation of a gate so you can play with it, go right ahead; a separate thread for that makes a lot of sense.
