Actually

It's more something like
Troika
First hit: 100
Second hit: 115

Sealed Sword
First hit: 90
Second hit: 130

Troikas get the somewhat stronger first hit, but the second hit of the Sealeds hit hard.

statbars are notoriously unreliable

The statbars on items are notoriously inaccurate. For example, the Gran Faust speed bar is far longer than the Divine Avenger speed bar, but they are almost identical in speed in reality.

as a side note, why wouldnt

as a side note, why wouldnt the sealed sword do more damage than the grintovec? grintovec has a chance to apply status on the second attack, sealed sword does not.

Generaly when one weapon can apply a status with its hit and the other cannot, the one that cannot deals more damage.

@ Bopp

Gran Faust's speed bar is off? Thanks man, I'm sticking with Acheron then - it's a better sword anyway.

oh yes

Metagenic, the statbar is definitely off. See the Lancer Knightz data collection project for actual measurements. I agree that Acheron is better than Gran Faust (even if clobbering slimes is more pleasureable with Gran Faust).

Well, I don't agree, because

Well, I don't agree, because i love slow swords and hate brandish series, but it's not the point of the post.

The point is : bars lie.

Oh, and also : it has been calculated somewhere that sealed sword series do more dps than troika series even against resistant mobs (dps, not damage per swing, because troika are slower).

This is anecdotal...

But I tested a sealed sword and a kamarin of the same level and their damage on each hit (first and second) was identical. Even the charge attack did the same damage. I wasn't looking at swing speed, so the troika line might be slightly slower, but the damage was the same. I really wanted to know, because I wanted the better of the two for T2 Lockdown. Given that the damage was the same (and DPS is irrelevant) I went with the sealed sword, based on my preference in appearance and the charge attack.

So, just like Frostythepyro said: I am guessing the grintovec does less damage because it can inflict status on that second swing, just like the status branches in the flourish line.
