First off, I could've sworn there just was an ASI vs CTR thread for alchemers. Ah well.
So here is my dilemma: I'm planning on getting a nova driver. I would like to know if it would be more beneficial to get one with CTR or ASI as a UV. I currently have a prismatic alchemer with CTR medium, and it is awesome. I just would like to see how well ASI works on alchemers. (I'm considering ASI mainly for PvP usage.) I know ASI doesn't affect bullets speed, but I have heard good things about it's effects on other aspects of the gun.
If possible, could someone upload a video of ASI on alchemer guns? (no ASI vs. Any other ASI above low). It would really help. :)
Edit: and no, I can't afford a swiftstrike buckler yet.
Nova Driver- CTR or ASI?
I'd say CTR since the charge is useful for more than gun puppies - can hit those things out of range etc, can also clip all of the splits one shotting more than just gun puppies too - occasionally cube slimes, sometimes lumbers, usually phantoms, etc etc. I'd report this as a bug if you are going to be using alchemers, just because OOO is picky about what you abuse bug-wise, even if abusing it is unavoidable. Regardless, it is expected of you to report bugs they let through. Because we are out of range in the first place and can shield cancel very quick in the first place, usually you'll like damage bonus instead of ASI. That being said, it's still nice to have around your CoA / Grey Owlite / Ironmight since shielding is still important, so in my opinion I wouldn't waste your time with a swiftstrike - unless you like how it looks and you only play LD.
In LD i find polaris to be a bit better at taking down strikers, though I go striker as well to run with them as well as the mobility gives you a big advantage as a gunner in my opinion. Just don't be that guy that unloads all three bullets in the same direction / constantly unloads 3 bullets -.- When you shock em its awesome - just because a polaris bullet hasn't expanded doesn't mean it can't kill someone / shock. Also if you were to use an alchemer for LD I'd suggest the storm driver.
I've been building all the alchemers up to 5* as my latest hobby, and without a doubt, CTR is the best. I have ASI med on my cryo and firo, and I ended up with CTR VH on my shadow. Especially when used with gunning gear and damage bonuses, it's really disgusting on DPS. in 4* trim it will 1shot t2 jellies and severely wound polyps in T3.
Having said that, my prisma is undead med. I use it in FSC, and am hoping for slightly better results when I make a nova. It's good damage and will 1shot slags solo or 2 people, but I tend to miss a lot.
If you have CTR, keep it. ASI has only really sped up the shot speed and slightly effected the load speed. If you plan on using any sort of gunner gear with it, the ASI will be good enough anyway. CTR, or a theme damage.
As the owner of a CTR high nova, I have to say CTR is a blast.
Agreed. If you were to go ASI for damage and you don't have a mobility problem, don't go ASI for damage - get damage bonus wherever you can. A damage bonus med slime on a umbra for example would be better than an ASI med in my opinion, since umbra isn't that great on grems but good on slimes. I'd just pull out the piercing blade / *gulp* Callahan for grems, though if you take out Callahan expect your group to be mad at you on wolvers and grems, and devilites the Callahan is great while in a group, while solo polaris is much better if you want a use for Callahan. Greavers will convince you to take out your piercing blade for good.

Oh yeah, and the one shot "bug" is not necessarily a bug. At 5*, there is the charge shot, and 4 ricochet bullets, two of which ricochet off at 90 degree angles. If an enemy is moving towards you (lumber, slime, Skelly), and you charge it while it is moving, then the 90 degree ricochet bullets should hit it since it is moving. Same with slimes. As for gun puppies, I don't know how the bullets hit the stationary target. I may be totally wrong, but this is how I think the one shot "bug" works. If I am wrong, then I just wasted 3 minutes typing this. Other then this, I see no other possible bug with the alchemers.

Oh yeah; Here's what I am thinking about each UV:
CTR medium- able to cancel gun puppy attacks with charge and/or oneshot them. Should be decent in FSC.
ASI medium (at least)- able to shoot bullets faster for higher dps compared to no ASI (of course). I was thinking I could use the ASI to help hit insane strikers in PvP.
^ all pertaining to tier 3, since alchemers suck at 2/3 star.
