How do you kill him? It seems that whenever you do damage he just regens health..
The Jelly King
1) POISON HIM
2) CONSTANTLY attack him!
3) IGNORE the other jellies!
4) If you use have Stun / Fire / Curse , USE THEM
5) When Royal Jelly is Pink, GUARD, you CANNOT hurt him while he is pink!
That is the basics of it :3
i've not really been paying attention to its colour... but... isn't it always pink?
It is usually Purple, not Pink.
Another way to tell is that, when you hit Royal Jelly while he is pink,
your attacks will make a clinking sound (like you are hitting a shield)
Poison will prevent him from healing, apply it after you start damaging him. Curse, Fire, Stun, and even shock can be very effective as well. Apply as much damage as you can, shielding to avoid his attacks or to get the little slimes off of you. When he lightens in color (purple to pink), run away. He will start to spin around the area, if you have a good charge attack, start charging and wait for him to stop spinning and return to purple hue, then resume attacking.
You'll want to bring as many health capsules as you can, as you tend to take a bit of damage on this fight. Don't be shy to use them, along with any of the above-mentioned vials.
so, basically i shouldn't have tried to solo him with 2/3 star armor and weapons =p
I have never fought him before, but, yes, fighting a boss solo with 2/3* gear is generally going to cause you to fail, unless you know the boss inside and out.
I killed him bout 5 times today actually, It's Easier to kill him right now since they nerfed him, Tip: Get a party geared good. I usually go with 3-4* geared party's since that makes it easier.
You've all forgotten the most crucial part.
Stay to his left.
Stay to his right* our left or west. Pew pew.
and im almost certain you get an amount of tokens based on how fast you kill him. AKA if you kill him very quickly you'll get 4 gems, but if it takes some time you'll only get 3. this seems to be my experience.
you kill him quickly by sword rush/keeping him poisoned. it won't take long. i usually take the time of him spinning to use a hp potion
One thing to mention: I've observed that gunners typically don't fare well against him. Heavily upgraded guns can't compare to even basic swords for sheer damage potential, and the best strategy is to take him down fast. I would recommend even the most dedicated gunner take a decent sword if the party has in mind taking him down. (Note that this is coming from a guy who just traded out his gun for a second sword about an hour ago: take that with a grain of salt. Perhaps an actual gunner can get some input on this?)
Status ailment bombers can be very helpful in this fight, especially poison. I also saw a guy using graviton bombs to draw the little slimes away from the primary damagers once. But I think they're a bit too slow to rely on for damage here: ailment bombs are the way to go. (Again, see the note in the previous paragraph.)
Use freeze to control the crowd of jellies... Keep them in their place!
Guns just don't work well in this fight. If you're at range you're going to hit the little jellies instead of the royal, and if you're up close swords would do more damage anyway. I use my firotech to light it on fire and then switch back to sword. And yes, the more you keep it poisoned the easier the fight is.
Hey, do you guys think that having a Vile Striker or greater would make this fight easier? I mean, it poisons and it's a sword, so it sounds like it might do well in this fight to me. However, do you think it might be too slow or not have enough knockback or whatever?
I think jelly king's waay too easy now. I went down there with a couple of people, both had 2/3* items, I had all 3* items. We didn't use many consumables, probably 2 or 3 poisons. Revived myself once or twice. That was the second time beating him.
First time beating him I died 2 or 3 times, same items (it was the day before). Different team, four people I think. Both times we forgot about using poison, but it wasn't a big deal.
Last night was my first time losing to him. Basically solo (other teammates didn't focus him when I told them to). But I guess I should've known the group wasn't ready when one of them (team of three) asked how to revive someone with health. I guess other person was running around trying to dodge jelly? I didn't pay attention until I was dead and could see the other players.
Just focus jelly king. Poison is good, but I didn't find it 100% necessary. I'm not sure if payout is based on time or not. I'm pretty sure my second time was faster, but we only got 3 jelly gems. First time we got 4 jelly gems.
Poison him.
Stay to your left; he spins to the (your) right, up and around in a circle.
Ignore everything but him. Keeping hitting him.
???
Profit. Takes literally like ~15 seconds.
Oh, and a party of 3+ gunners spell for disaster. NOBODY should gun at Jelly King.
If you want to solo the thing, get your Ash of Agni and Nitrome bombs ready (though you really shouldn't want to solo the thing in the first place, heat , crowns AND TOKENS are shared in the first place, remember? And your goal is the Jelly Tokens to eventually work your way up to Antigua / Sealed Sword)
@Samm
Soloing doesn't change the time it takes to kill Jelly King.
Partying increases difficulty to match number of players, therefore
difficulty when Soloing is "the same" as with a party.
Maybe with regards to PUGs. But an organized group makes the Royal Jelly a joke. My team comp includes a vile striker on one guy, me with a faust, and my third teammate with a bomb. Combined we can curse and poison the boss while keeping the little guys off us. It makes a somewhat annoying solo match a joke of a team match.
soloing him is great fun IMO. sure its super easy and even somewhat boring to take him down in a coordinated party, because it takes like 10 seconds. the levels leading up to him are harder. but soloing is a great time.
i just wish you could carry 2 slots of the same potions
I saw a video where they kept poisoning him to prevent regeneration.
