How to make poison more menacing...

Face it, poison isn't that menacing and people don't care when they get poisoned. My suggestion for making poison more scary is to make it eat up Health Capsules. This wont be a big update ,but it will help make the Rabid Snarbolax more menacing!

Feel free to comment and suggest even further!

I don't think so.

I reckon poison is annoying enough already, but if you want to add anything to it, I suggest make the status take AWAY the health you try to regain while under the status.

Eg, pick up a heart while poisoned= -1 HP

My suggestion

When you are poisoned, your health bar's maximum health is half (ex. you have 20/35 bars, it goes to 10/10 max), which means you can get killed easily. After the poison wears off, your health goes back to normal (before being poisoned), minus the damage taken.
It's complicated.

My mistake. I thought you meant the consumable kind.

Then I dunno. I guess it could work, but I don't have an opinion on it.

Having your attack power halved isn't menacing?
Well, if not, maybe turn up its defense debuff.

In reality, poison would not make health capsules disappear. Furthermore, you can hold a max of 3. How quickly would they dissapear? What is to stop people just dropping them?
There are far better things to do than destroy pickups.

Additionally, what does it do to monsters?

i think he meant

that when you use a vial while poisoned, it will be "used" without actually healing you
as opposed to what we have right now that using a pill while poisoned will simply activate the pill use animation, will not heal, and will not lose the pill...

either way, the people above have said it right. I hate poison more than shock, fire, and even curse.
You get halved damage and reduced defense. Both are horrible in Tier 3 especially when you are bombarded by projectiles from turrets, Retrodes and Kats.
Imagine, you are poisoned but cant kill your enemies faster since you have less damage. if ever you get hit, and you will, it hurts bad. whats worse is that when an attack has a chance to poison, it WILL reset the poison timer.

In Tier 3, enemies will initiate their attack faster too. People ignore poison in Tier 2 because they can cancel the opponent's attack easier, as they are faster.

in short, NO, poison is as menacing as it can be right now.

Can't completely agree. It could use a boost. But not a mechanic change. Maybe increase the duration by 50-100%... same goes for stun. Both effects can be really awful if hit at the wrong time, but usually you have to be hit by those effects repeatedly, kept poisoned / stunned and unable to get it off to really get into trouble, while other status effects are bad enough even if you get affected only once.

This is very obvious if you look at it from the other side: venom veiler and stagger storm are practically useless. The effect is nice while it lasts, but you don't get anything done before it ends, so it's mostly just wasting sweet sweet dps to use those instead of any other status.

i agree with Psychodestroyer.

i agree with Psychodestroyer. make the poison work like when an enmey is poisoned. if they heal they get hurt.

so say i get poisoned in t3 and i use my pill or step over a heart. i would take damage for how much the pill healed for or how much the heart healed for.

Um, guys?

He was referring to health BARS.

I dunno why he said capsules, but apparently he meant health bars will be cut down to half, then return to normal after it wears off.

I still don't have an opinion on this anymore, but I just posted to help clear up a little confusion.

Did it work?

I remember a video somewhere where when an ememy was healed, they healed a minimal amount, but took no damage. Some Mad Bomber with Venom Veiler and Wolver + Silkwing tested it.

However heres the fact.
Poison halves damage you deal.
Poison Doubles damage taken.

Sounds like a fair trade off and better than the old fashoined (and cliche') "you took 1 damage per second! omg!"

I think poison isn't menacing, but more stealthy, if to be described. Still nice to have, but like curse, isn't as common in weapons. (If you say one Weapon line counts as 1 weapon in this case. aka Venom Veiler and its preceding upgrades count all as one.)

only trouble is on knights it doesnt have hardly much effect. useless in the coliseum. so i do feel like poison needs something a little extra. perhaps poison can lower defense to attacks as well. at the moment it only lowers attack.
or, if its stealthy, perhaps it can be there without knights knowing. that would mean youd still go to heal yourself and then realise something unpleasant is in your veins.

could perhaps have an increased duration to other status's, to help make the annoyance a little longer. would help even things up a little bit. i by the way already though i did damage when you tried to heal but only on monsters. this would probably only be balanced in the coliseum.

though i still agree poison will need an increase to even it out with other status's.

Personally I hate poison as

Personally I hate poison as other status effects. It's annoying 8-10secs (since I don't have poison rez) of no healing, less damage, little more incoming damage (I think). And in poison arenas I'm like 40% of time poisoned.

its still slightly weak though. a few increases would be nice.
