i just got a complete set of Drake scale armor and event though it seems to be better than what i had befor i seem to be taking more dammage in dyeing more so..
am i doing something wrong or .. did i misinterprete something..
cause i though Drake scale was better than Volt breaker..

the thwakers in Tier 2 are busting my shield in like 2 or 3 hits.. the Volt breaker could have stood up to that better .. am i missing something?

Drake Scale shield has no

Drake Scale shield has no normal defense, which is probably why it doesn't hold up well.

Drake set isn't really that

Drake set isn't really that great for any tier, given that normal damage is so common. It's not bad if you want to mix a piece with a shadow/normal piece to make an all-rounder set, but there's better choices for that purpose as well such as skolver coat with divine veil, radiant silvermail with grey feather cap. Of course, the silvermail crafts off the drake scale mail, so you can still rescue some of your investment by crafting up an elemental hood.

Unfortunately you can't combine shields, so you're really best off letting the drake shield collect dust in your inventory and switch to some other line. Good choices are: Plate, Skelly (you may wish to switch to blackened crust/crust of almire at 4*), owlite and the snarby line. You can craft your drake into a stone tortoise and omega shell if you really don't want to let go of it, but bear in mind that the vast majority of the cost of a piece of equipment is in the 4* and 5* upgrades so it's best to abandon poor equipment choices early.

not popular, sorry

In the shallow parts of the Clockworks, monsters deal normal damage. As you go deeper into the Clockworks, monsters increasingly deal their preferred damage type (e.g., piercing for slimes), but there is still a lot of normal damage in most of their attacks.

I've never used Drake Scale Shield, but I suspect that it's unpopular for the following reason. The 5-star versions are Dragon Scale Shield and Omega Shell. DSS is like Drake Scale, but more so. It has no normal protection, so it breaks quickly from the normal damage in monsters' attacks. OS offers only normal protection, so it breaks from the non-normal damage in monsters' attacks.

Sorry, but I think that this is just not a good shield, except perhaps in certain specific situations.

well i guess ican chalk this

well i guess ican chalk this up to another costly mistake.. unless i wear it for its looks.. since my 2 Star Volt breaker was doing better... XD
maybe i can just keep that as i grind out T1/2 for now untill i find a better Proper replacement..

i guess for the most the part atm i can prolly go up the magic coat line for the elemental protection and the skelly line for shadow protection
for now XD

maybe a plate shield up for the protections aginst it busting in 2 hits

I'm curious if an Omega Shell

I'm curious if an Omega Shell with Maximum normal defense UV would outperform one of the Plate Shield series. Namely, the Plate Shield series achieves its durability from very high Normal defense, while Omega Shell is supposed to achieve durability from high health, but seems to fall short. It would seem that a Maximum normal defense UV Omega has the potential to be the strongest shield in the game, but this needs actual testing...
