If you're a Bomber, you'll know that Gun Puppies & Wolvers are probably your Worst nightmare(Well, maybe to me, at least) so you'll be wanting an Owlite Shield...Except you're still vulnerable to Piercing Attacks. So, I've been skimming through the Wiki & found Dragon Scale Shield to be a great Shield...Except it doesn't offer Normal Defence. Is it noticeable & would you recommend it? Also, how far is the Push-Back you get from Shielding?

It's a shield for Gunslingers
It's a shield for Gunslingers most of the time. Even in T3, almost all melee attacks will deal some portion of Normal damage. I'm happy with Wyvern Scale Shield (being a Gunslinger) but it breaks instantly from Lumber attacks if they inflict a non-Fire status, and very quickly from Trojans and Gremlins. Since a Bomber is frequently within melee attack range you'll want a shield with Normal defense. The shield push distance is the same for all shields (and even without a shield). It will push further the closer you are to the target when you shield.
So I wouldn't recommend it for a Bomber (or Swordsman). A dual Normal-Piercing or Normal-Elemental shield should hold you well for most enemies, as the Normal defense will improve durability against most attacks.

let me tell you
What you need is a volcanic plate shield! one of the highest defences, can take a hell lot of hits, resistant to fire. Really, I've seen many, and I've never seen one break. Even in Ultimate Ionclaw Munition Factory, where you get hit by normal, elemental (shock & fire) and piercing.

I've already got Volcanic Plate Shield.
And it IS Awesome. I'm going to Craft an Ironmight Plate Shield for RJ Runs, since those pesky Wolvers/Jellies keep Breaking through it like Paper, but other than there, it seems to be Indestructible. I just LOVE Releasing my Blazebrand's Charge followed by a Shield Bump. Makes it possible for you to Charge Up & let loose another one, till they're dead.

God no. A lack of normal cripples it in Tiers 1 and 2, and doesn't help with gremlins on tier 3.
Really, I find the best solution to a gun puppy is a DA charge to the knee, and alpha wolvers can thrash any shield into bits.
