There has to be more environmental hazards besides fire pits, spike traps, and poisoned spikes.

For example, in the electricity type of depth levels, there should be electric water.
In snowy type of depth levels, there should be blizzards and your character has a certain amount of time before he starts loosing health, the only way to get some warmth is if he stands next to those lamps or fire nearby.
In the graveyard type levels, there should be quicksand?
Swinging axes, try to dodge them!

Those are just examples of environmental hazards how characters can get killed by than just spikes all the time! It adds variety of death in the game.

I consider those blasted

I consider those blasted un(permantently)killable (and non-loot-giving) wraith things in the graveyards to be all the environmental hazard that will ever be needed in that particular level. And I've heard later there are these things that auto-rez any undead enemies in a radius in the graveyard levels. Scary.

But it would be cool to see a wider variety of traps in other levels! Maybe projectile launchers that can't be destroyed, or things that push the players around (like a conveyor belt or strong stream of water or wind). Stuff like that. :)

Agreed

I think this is a great idea. Fire, spikes, and thorns doesn't really give us all that much variety in terms of traps, and it gets tiring seeing the same thing again and again. Not only do more environmental hazards mean more of a challenge and less repitition, but said hazards could be used in solving puzzles. Think of a typical Zelda game, which usually has switches to control water geysers or wind tunnels; I would love to see similar problem-solving elements in SK.

Variaty is good

Hi all!,

I too agree that more KINDS of hazards would help the feel of the clockworks being different and changeable, however on the whole i think there should be less hazards and more monsters to make up for them in the challenge rooms, just my opinion, i hate not being able to kill things that can kill me.

XD

There should be slowsand and ice on the ground.
Ice makes it hard to control where you're moving, combine this with spikes for a deadly combo.
Slowsand just slows everything moving through it down.

i agree man, i suggested a

i agree man, i suggested a few in another thread. good old stereotypical stuff like jets of fire/steam/ice from indestructible parts of the environment. maybe some that need a switch to turn off for a period of time (like the gates on a timer)... so you wouldnt necessarily HAVE to hit the switch (if you dont mind running through and taking damage).

maybe some objects that slide back and forth on rails/paths with spikes on them or something to make you have to dodge the hazard AND fight off enemies at the same time.

too many of the current hazards are based on the ground below you (spikes, grates with flames, thorns). though i do like the idea of adding slow/fast ground below you in whatever form to mess with the players momentum.

good ideas guys! :)

you, sir are...

You are sick for suggesting that there should be more brutal ways for us to get killed down there!

I LIKE THE WAY YOU THINK! 8D

I WANT PITFALLS, TRAPS, A BLIND STATUS, AND A LEVEL WHERE YOU CAN GET KNOCKED OFF THE MAP!!!

all in all, more new fun ways to die is great!
