No wait, look at the pages for the Spiral Scale set again. It's a 1-star set with no upgrades.
Now look at the pages for the Drake Scale set (which has a similar appearance. Link is to the page for the helm). It's a 3-star set.
The mystery Regal Scale Set (Calling it that because it's got a Regal coloration) you see could probably have been the 2-star link between the Spiral Scale and Drake Scale set, or even a scrapped idea for how the former should look.
Probably the latter because OOO doesn't like items to be craftable from 1-star all the way to 5-star (they USED to have it for the haze bombs but it got patched out), AND it's kind of jarring for an item to completely LOSE all Normal Resistance on upgrading it. That and there are already a whole lot of Normal/Pierce armors one more would probably be too much.
On top of that, take a look at the Steam trailer for SK... specifically the "Gear up for adventure" segment 19 seconds in...
Right after Cherub you see what looks like a "Military"-colored Wyvern/Dragon Scale set (calling it the Tortoise Scale because of the shield)...
The Regal Scale Set and the Tortoise Scale Set are either prototype looks for the Drake/Wyvern sets as they are now or one of them is the missing 2-star armor that WOULD have been between the Spiral and Drake Scale sets on the alchemical line if allowing an item to be craftable from 1 to 5 star wasn't proven to be a bad idea.
