so..i'm going to fight JK soon and wanted sword info. is the arc razor good?
best sword for JK
The calibur line's charge is pretty awesome for JK if you save up poisons and fire vials. It's a basic sword so you might have it already, which is why I would suggest it. If you don't have one, then make a Nightblade as Warrior said. The charge is great since the explosions happen inside JK.
The Spur line is pretty bad since it stops at 4* and the phantom 2nd strike makes a lot of enemies dodge crazily, so I'd recommend you to drop it all together.
The Royal Jelly (as he is now called) is weak to shadow, like all slimes (although this wasn't always the case). So the Gran Faust and Acheron lines are good. The Dread Venom Striker line is also good, due to the poison.
Well uh, you asked the best sword, so uh..

And that was when JK was actually hard.
Myllakka...I don't have a calibur, and don't know much about the nightblade
Bopp...i'm going my first time and can't get 5* swords
rangerwill...see above
trying...good to know..
Warriorrogue...see above
Tedme, I was explicitly talking about the sword *lines*, not about their 5-star versions. In fact, the 5-star versions aren't much better than the 4-star or even 3-star versions, because weapons get weakened, when you use them on a shallower stratum than they're designed for.
If you want it spelled out, the classic swords to use are Nightblade/Silent Nightblade/Acheron, Faust/Gran Faust, and Vile Striker/Dread Venom Striker. And Rangerwill presumably mentioned Fang of Vog; I didn't bother to follow the link. So if you're willing to get a 3-star sword, then try Nightblade, for its shadow damage. If you want to do Jelly King with a 2-star sword, then it doesn't matter much, which one you use; try Calibur.
I assume that you don't want this sword just for JK, but are interested in choosing a wise long-term investment? Then avoid the Spur/Arc Razor/Winmillion line, because it dead-ends at 4-star. Nightblade is a good investment.
For the first time, either a Nightblade (which is Acheron lower star) or a calibur line, because calibur charge is actually very good against the boss.
For the actual run, if you don't use the charge, Nightblade is probably better.
kk. I'l probably get a nightblade.
p.s.
I'm smart.....(Sarcastically)
Acheron for the slimes, DA or any of the brandish line for the other sword.
I didn't actually expect you to be able to get one of those.
I was just saying that the Fang of Vog IS the best sword for the Royal Jelly, and that was your question.
Bopp's advice is best for which 3* sword.
So i brought a nightblade along with my combuster, and it sucked. A lot. I suggest another brandish, either fire or shock cuz the effects are usefull. But silent knight has better damage than my combuster (normal hits) so that would be good too. (just 3* sucks) Also, since JK is huge, both caliber and brandish charges are at their best as all hits/ explosions will hit. So pick one. :) (DONT go cutter line, unless you reaaaly need poison, cuz the charge will get you killed from lack of movement)
well...I have poison (toxic needle) so I don't know. I'l probably choose today (I bought the explorer's pack =D).
Tedme, in case you're not aware, the Royal Jelly is now like all other slimes in his damage resistances. (He used to be different.) So he's resistant to piercing, which makes Toxic Needle less desirable.
@Darkflare
Why are you even using the charge in the first place for Vile? It's completely opposite of what you should be doing with that Sword line.
I got.........Tempered calibur. the only problem is I'm used to fast swords. other then that its A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!
My top five swords against JK (where 1 is best and 5 is least good)
1. Fang of vog (awesome charge with huge dmg numbers and fire inflict)
2. Gran faust (JK is weak to shadow and low chance to curse)
3. Dread venom striker (due to its psn effect and speed)
4. Acheron (havnt used it but shadow has to work)
5. Leviathan (similar charge to FOV but without the chance of fire)
I know that there resistent to piercing...I got it because of poison. I hear it's decent when playing in a group.
You're much better off with a vile striker instead of the toxic needle. If you do the full combo it's almost guaranteed to poison him while doing damage in the process, while with a needle you'll only poison., not damage.
That said, I almost never got there without enough poison vials in the group to keep him in check, so a shadow sword is much more desirable in the loadout than either toxic needle or vile striker.
I like the vile striker or (silent) nightblade against the royal jelly. Eventually a faust is better than the nightblade line for the actual boss fight, because curse is very useful against the boss, but you can't get a faust unless you spend a whole lot in the auction house or beat the Jelly King 7 times and I personally like faster swords.
For poison in a gun, you should take a toxic catalyzer instead of the toxic needle, but if everyone in the party grabs three vials, that should be enough. I prefer to carry an elemental gun (firotech, voltech, or kilowatt pulsar lines) to take out the constructs in the earlier level. They can also apply useful statuses to the boss if you use them sparingly, but generally it's better to smack away with a sword in there.
I've tried both, acheron's fast hitting does more than the curse, at least for me.
I've had both Acheron and Gran Faust for months. I love them both, but in general I prefer Acheron a bit, due to its speed and the resulting damage per second advantage. But against the revised Royal Jelly, I prefer Gran Faust, because it has a longer reach that lets me hit from farther away and thus avoid that silly contact damage.
Today I fought the Royal Jelly! I used...
>Tempered calibur
>Super blast bomb (I think...it was the 3* version)
>Gunslinger set
>Drake scale shield
and there were two people helping.
If you wanna kill JK as fast as possible, solo would even do
>Get a Cutter 2*
>Make a Vile Striker 4*
>Spam your damaged onto JK
>Kill JK
It works very well butnot adviceable if you have less than 2 pills.
The poison works great such that it doesnt heal, as for the damage, it won't go to waste. You'll find JK splattered in no time.
Dread Venom Striker is way better at JK than compared to Archeron, but for most common uses, it is the other way round.
As for the rest of the pre-stages, the nightblade line and faust line does great although Vile/Dread Venom sucks :/
Nightblade for JK pre-stage
Vile Striker for JK
i have a 4* nightblade and a 3* calibur, but i find my calibur charge out dmging the nightblade
so i use the nightblade on the small jellies and calibur charge on JK
the reason for this is because all 3 hits from the calibur charge hit head on, which gives 300~400 dmg? while nightblade gives bout 200
I always advocate for piercing, elemental, and shadow swords, and against normal swords. But even I must admit that the Levi/CIV/FoV charge attack is pretty awesome against knockback-resistant enemies. A Levi/CIV/FoV with Maximum! CTR is particularly brutal. And the Royal Jelly is certainly knockback-resistant. But against all the other jellies, Acheron is better, especially in a party.
Not particually(not sure if spelt right...). The 2 better swords are:
Nightblade
And faust, but that's a JK reward, so go for nightblade
