I am contemplating buying the Explorer pack.

Using Christmas monies, I can buy an Ultimate Game Card, but I'm not sure if Spiral Knights supports UGC.

Also, I'm using a converted Steam account for some reason, so will that have an effect on Ultimate Game Card payment options' compatibility?

Can anyone (preferably an admin) give me a clear answer as to if it is possible to redeem an Ultimate Game Card (sold at 7-11 and stuff) in Sk, and on top of that, whilst using a Steam account?

And before anyone asks...

I don't have a credit card, so that method of payment is out of the question.

If your account is a steam

If your account is a steam account you can only use payment methods that steam accepts. Steam does not appear to accept UGC at this time.

You can, however, use visa/mc/amex gift cards with steam, as they function identically to regular credit cards from the merchant's point of view. You should be able to find these at 7-11 beside the UGC cards.

UGC works with SK, but maybe not with Steam.

You can use UGC with Spiral Knights (you choose Pay By Cash and follow the instructions from there), but it sounds like you can't do that with Steam, so a prepaid Visa, Mastercard, or Amex is probably the way to go.

Thanks.

So what exactly are these prepaid cards? are they like credit cards, but with a set prepaid amount? Do they operate under companies, and need an account with a bank or something to use?

sorry for my completely idiotic questions, I'm pretty clueless as to how this stuff works.

@Dirigible they're basically

@Dirigible they're basically like credit cards in the way you use them to pay for stuff, with the difference being that they come preloaded with some amount of money and become basically useless once you've spent that. You might need to register the card with the issuer to make online purchases, but you shouldn't have any difficulty doing that. You shouldn't need a bank account or anything like that.

If steam accepts Paypal, you

If steam accepts Paypal, you don't need a credit card for that.

Unfortunately, if you are

Unfortunately, if you are already connected through steam, you cannot use the Ultimate Game Cards and must use the steam wallet feature.

However, there is a way to circumvent it, if the UGC is your only option, and it is this:

Create a new SK account. (You should be able to do this if your only account is the one connected to steam) In your new free account, log into the website then click "My Account" then "Purchase Energy" then go into "Pay by Cash". There should be an option to use the UGC there. You can purchase and transfer the items to your other account.

Be aware, however, that by using the UGC, not all options are available for purchase as they are with other forms of payment. (Explorer pack might not even be available for the UGC option) Also, the elevator pass will be activated on that account since it is non-transferrable.

However, I'm going to guess you're gonna want those elevator passes, so my suggestion would most likely be out of the question. If that's the case, then the options that the other knights suggested would be your best bet.

Bumping this. I got some UGC

Bumping this.

I got some UGC gift cards that I would like to use. I launch Spiral Knights through Steam. Instead of buying energy/energy packs in game, can I go to https://billing.spiralknights.com and pay with UGC there?
