To the Devs: Greaver inspiration

I really like the monsters, and their designs, in Spiral Knights. They all seem to have something about them that renders them clever, specifically the bosses (IE: Snarbolax and the Roaramulus Twins)
One monster that I couldn't quite see much references from, though, is the Greaver. I like it's appearance, and I'd like to know what exactly inspired it's design?

Guess ya learn somethin' new everyday! Thanks, Nick! I've never seen demon moths be used before, and I think Greavers are really cool-lookin' critters.

That's pretty neat. It would be cool sometime to learn all
the reasons why you guys chose to make specific things the
way you did.

Instantaneous reply from a GM!? ZOMG.

Related question: Why does Snarbolax have featherywinglegs?

Yeah, it is.
They call me Psycho for a reason :P

Might I ask where you all got your inspiration for the Kats?
It's inspired by the demon moths you see now and again in Japanese folklore. We had already done classic little devils with our devilites for the Fiend (demon) family and needed another that also had a 'demon' feel to it.
