Alchemy Question: Unique Variants?

Hello, everyone, new knight here! I've been playing for a few days, and just finally, finally, oh frabjulous day, made my first piece of armor--a wolver coat! And color me surprised, it has a unique variant!

But that's a bit of a hitch.

The wolver coat can be used in another recipe, right? But that recipe demands a "level one" wolver coat. If I use my fancied coat and it gains enough heat to level, does that mean I can't use it later in an alchemical recipe?

Sorry to ask such a strange question out of the gate.

Yes, you can

You verily can, Golonya. I'm a new knight too, but I have at least crafted my first three star! :)
You lose all your heat upon upgrading, but I'm sure that's a small matter.
My question is, does the weapon retain the UV upon upgrade?

There's an option to keep it, or scrap it and try for a new one--odds are good you won't get one at all if you do that, though, from my understanding.

Yes if you want it to

There is a little check box that you can hit, asking if you want to transfer the UV to the to-be-created item or not. If you don't keep the UV, then the UV goes away and you have a chance of getting a different one. If you keep the UV, you will not have a chance to get a different UV.

And yes, you can use a lvl10 Wolver Coat to make a Dusker Coat. Just remember to unequip it when you are crafting.

For crafting, there can be minimum required levels (3* gear must be level 5 or above to be upgraded to 4*, 4* gear must be fully heated before you can craft into 5*s), but there isn't a maximum level restriction. The level you see in brackets on the recipe is the minimum requirement. Your Wolver Coat can be level 1, level 4, or level 10, and it'll all upgrade into the Dusker fine.

Also, something I've noticed

Also, something I've noticed when upgrading weapons and armor is that sometimes a UV will be bumped up, as in VS undead Low will become Undead Med. This may be a glitch, but it's happened to me a few times, not sure if it has happened to anyone else.

@ Aemicus

I personally haven't paid attention to that, but i might be because since it's a higher star rating, you are assumed to be in a new tier, and thus, for the UV to actually be effective, it has to be amped a little.

Ex) UV normal def low in T1 against a wolver hit, noticeable difference
UV normal def low in T3 against a wolver hit, no difference

Therefore, Tier 1 UV low -> Tier 3 UV medium (or something); Noticeable defense difference versus wolvers (t3)

That's just my theory :3

[Edit] I think my theory is wrong, i checked my wise owlite shield, has a UV, still Low after upgrading twice from owlite shield

Percentage based

Well UVs and bonuses are percentage based. The wiki says the estimated percentage differences, but most of the time it is like 7% per level. Therefore, the UV should scale as you progress in the game.

Yep, either Aemicus made a mistake, or he had a weird (and lucky) bug.
