Obviously i'm happy to play the game off steam, but i'm missing out on stuff like achievements and trading and things so i'd like to get it working on steam.

Like I said it runs without steam, even if I change the shortcut to the steam directory, so I think steam's launching it incorrectly. Are there any config files or anything in the game directory I can change to make steam launch like the standalone version?

And before you ask, yes i've updated java, re-installed spiral knights several times and updated my drivers.

Relevant specs:

GTX260 896mb
8gb ram
i7 2.2ghz

Same issue?

I haven't tried playing without Steam, specifically because I want to get the holiday achievement.

Attempting to log in, it loads as normal, then my screen goes black. It flashes back and forth between the normal display and black a few times, then gives me the following prompt:

We were unable to initialize the game's graphical display. Please take the following steps to ensure compatibility:
*Visit the technical support forum for up-to-date information and suggestions.
*Make sure your system satisfies the game's minimum requirements.
*Update your video drivers.
*Ensure that hardware video acceleration is fully enabled.

I ran through all the stuff on the tech support forum (updated my drivers, reinstalled Java, added it to the firewall exceptions, reinstalled the game, checked regedit) but it's still doing the same thing. After logging into the forum, I received a prompt that there's a known issue with Steam accounts and forum access, but it seems to work just fine.

So, is there an issue with Steam login, or is it something on my side?
