So, OOO, I understand you're pretty proud of the Lockdown PVP, and wanted to use the opportunity of the steam holiday promo to show it off to those people who have, perhaps, never played Spiral Knights before, or who might have tried it once a while back (say, during the summer promo, or during the Steam F2P launch) and drifted away to other games. I think that's pretty cool, not a bad idea all in all.

Except you screwed up.

What is the number one complaint about lockdown? Toothpick strikers. Not relevant here, granted, but the number two complaint is: Quitters screwing over their team. And you made it so the achievement could be triggered practically at the start of the match, pretty much guaranteeing that all the achievement farmers would immediately quit and move on to the next game, completely screwing over anyone who wanted to actually try out SK's PVP.

It's clearly too late to fix this promo, but for the next one, please make it so the achievement is only granted upon successfully completing the match.

+1 Nicoya Your posts are

+1 Nicoya

Your posts are always a good read, and good as in not a random question, pointless rage, trolling, epic fail, or THOSE types of posts (im looking at you beggars and CE complaints >:C)

All talking aside, I do agree. This didn't appear to happen to any of my games yet (and im fed up now with Frostbite. (╬ ಠ益ಠ) FFs) but still this should be thought out a bit more than just jump in to the game for 5 seconds, snatch free promo and rewards with it, leave game again. Its not good advertising, as people will just view the game as a free achievement farming one (especially if they join Tier 3 Lockdown, in which they will be destroyed by hardcore players)

Yeah.. and the sites

Yeah.. and the sites encouraging people to leave if Frostbite wasn't the map didn't help either.

please make it so the achievement is only granted upon successfully completing the match.

And winning too! Or else people would just go AFK. Have you seen new folks even trying to go for control points?

I dunno, sometimes I'd rather just have them leave or something. Most of the people who have no consideration for the rest of the field also tend to suck at LD in general. Losing a match due to quitters gets a pat on the back and an "sorry, man" a lot of times. Losing a match because the people who got their dumb reward decide to AFK, or even worse, play horribly..."durr gonna go recon and kill people out in the open spots, not snipe, not dodge, and not cap"...well that's just a real bummer.

Going AFK for any significant

Going AFK for any significant period in LD will result in being disqualified, if I recall, so it wouldn't count towards the achievement.

If you make it only granted on win, people would rage quit and try again as soon as the score started shifting in the other team's favour.

this has resulted in many free wins, and therefore I have now a lot more krogmos, and a iron bombhead mask. That's the best part. However, it's making lockdown really easy, and every match has a quitter. and quite a few proto gear, and suchlike. Change the promotion to you have to finish the match to get it. please?
Also, on a side note, nicoya, when do you play lockdown? I'd like to face you in it.

Most of my LD wins in t2 were against proto's. It wasn't a war, IT WAS A SLAUGTER!!!!
Also my team went to three once. I do agree, change it so there are less quiters.

Also, to java players, the acheivement doesn't matter. I got it and nothing happened.

@Warriorrogue It's kind of

@Warriorrogue It's kind of random when I play, I don't have a particular schedule for it, but it'll usually be in the afternoon or evening central time.

Promo

I like me some lockdown from time to time, but I am not sure it is the best place to entice new players to play. To get the achievement you need to play the little section to get to the rescue camp, and then the level to get to haven, then play 2 minutes of lockdown. Were the achievement something like kill snarby perhaps people would get a better feel for the game and be enticed to continue to play.

Spent a few hours last night trying to chat up some new looking people seeing if they needed help or advice and I just ended up giving directions to the lockdown icon.

This is loly

I got 700 crowns for(winning 500 to 0 and) 8 people leaving. This make me sadly happy. I quote:
"Only reason to play this ****ty game anyway."
"Not even a decent freebie."

How about clear a t1 gate.

How about clear a t1 gate. It would force 3-6 real levels to be played.

I didn't know lockdown

I didn't know lockdown disqualifies AFK people now. That's a good change :)

How about clear a t1 gate. It would force 3-6 real levels to be played.

That's how they get the TF 2 hats.

The summer achievement was similar, requiring people to pay 3000 cr for a vendor item (or beg/craft)

Perhaps in a next holiday promo you make it much more difficult to get the achievement, so players actually spend their effort playing the game and perhaps grow to love it.
