ok so i really wanted an alchemer that does elemental damage for fighting constructs and i head someone recomender cryotech alchemer to go along with a calibur series blade. i ended up buying the firotech recipes for MK I and MK II when I saw them at the terminal vendor because i thought someone could try me one for the other. but i havent had any luck since acquiring them, and now I see you can get the MK I recipes at least in Haven, so its not really a high demand item.

should i just suck it up and use the firotech for now?

EDIT: lol i finally just sold the recipes for face value

now the question is, should i have just crafted them? i want to be able to take down gun puppies and such from a distance, but freezing only stops movement right? they can still fire yeah?

also, does anyone know when /

also, does anyone know when / how often the recipe vendor in haven (not spiral quartzmaster, the stranger one) changes his wares? does he ever sell anything higher than a 2-star recipe?

They can still fire, but they

They can still fire, but they won't be able to rotate and aim at you, at least until you unfreeze them.

Personally I prefer the cryotech over the firotech, but its really up to how you prefer to play.

I believe he changes his recipes everyday.

I find Firotech to be pretty

I find Firotech to be pretty meh. The overall DPS that fire deals is not nearly high enough to make any difference at all in the end (as an example - even 'strong' fire only deals ~40 on T2, while my normal gun hits would be 65+ and sword hits 100+. Firotech's fire is quite a bit weaker, being moderate), unless you're fighting big mobs and manage to set several enemies on fire. (though a fire vaporizer is better for things like this)

If you want a gun for puppies specifically, Cryotech would probably be the best - The freeze stops their turning, so you can freeze them and safely shoot from other side, or simply get some time to take care of other mobs or charge.

Voltech is also quite good. It's not as effective in stopping an enemy but it's great for handling big mobs.

Shadowtech, being of the shadow damage type, is for slimes/gremlins. I don't find it very useful.

Prismatech used to have an undead damage bonus, but apparently it's gone? Pretty pointless if that's the case.

As for the vendor: I believe it cycles every 24 hours.

the only real difference

the only real difference between the different alchemer flavors is the status effect right? so i have the choice of fire/freeze/shock.

shock - can interrupt the attack
fire - can inflict additional damage
freeze - can stop the enemy

they all sound useful in their own way.. but i guess freeze still makes sense because it might let me evade/get close to an enemy without getting hit

EDIT: wrote this before i saw the last post. thanks for the info kakelgis :)

As a note: Shock on monsters

As a note: Shock on monsters cannot actually interrupt attacks, if the 'tick' happens mid-cast. (On attacks such as a zombie's leap or trojan's dash, it can stop their movement, but not the attack itself) If it happens before the monster starts casting, then they'll be unable to attack until the end of the 'tick'.
