I was thinking of getting Cobalt armor and Calibur and upgrade it till Azure Guardian Armor and Cold Iron Vanquisher but Im not sure if this is a good set or not. Please comment if this is a good combination set or suggest other better combination sets.Thank you.
Suggestions
I want two slots only and I'm quite Interested in guns and swords. And please leave a suggestions of guns, swords and armor for me.Thank you.Actually, I'm quite new here(Medium).
2 slots? the easiest combo is pierce sword + elemental gun.
Elemental gun because ranged enemies (where you are suppsoed to use it) are neutral or weak against it.
That leaves you covered against constructs and undeads.
You could upgrade the calibur, but you won't gain any advantage against any other monster family.
That's where the pierce sword comes in, with bonus against beasts and fiends.
If you want to carry one sword, one gun, and nothing else, then the popular combinations are
* piercing sword (Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade), elemental gun (as Juances said)
* shadow sword (Acheron or Gran Faust), elemental gun
* normal sword (especially Leviathan Blade), elemental gun
The reason is that guns are really useful against turrets, and all turrets are either vulnerable or neutral to elemental damage.
When I started out I always carried a Fireburst Brandish (elemental sword) and either a freeze bomb or a elemental gun. Yea, that left me weak to Gremlins and Beasts, but the only real problem I had was with Alpha Wolvers. Gremlins are easy enough to dodge or cause them to cancel an attack.
If you care about "optimal" or getting to T3 Vanaduke really fast, then Bopp has some really good advice. My general advice is that for T2 and lower you can use pretty much any combination you want without a problem. Just make sure they have an upgrade path to 5* for potential future use. However, I will say not to craft a 5* item unless you know it will be useful because 800CE is a lot. I find a T2 danger room even with 2 swords and a ton of gun puppies isn't that bad if you know what you are doing.
I've gone on to add a Piercing Sword (Snarble Barb line), a volt bomb (whatever it is called), and I'm going to add a Shadow sword (probably the Acheron)
So what armor, weapon and gun Tier 2 do you guys recommend me to use now?
I recommend that you examine the wiki and the various guides available, and decide on which 5-star items you want, and then look back in their alchemy trees to figure out which 2-star and 3-star items get you there. For example, if you like Juances' plan (it's a good one), then your goal is
* piercing sword: Final Flourish or Barbarous Thorn Blade
* elemental gun: Nova Driver, Storm Driver, Magma Driver, Hail Driver, or Polaris
Search the forums and the various guides to decide which of these you want. For example, if you want Barbarous Thorn Blade, then you need to get a Snarble Barb, which you get by beating the Snarbolax a few times. So get started. (Note: The Polaris comes from Roarmulus tokens, which maybe you're not ready to get yet.)
I use a Swift Flourish and Boltbrand. That gives me piercing and elemental damage, and the status effect from the Boltbrand can be extremely useful. I'm always doing either neutral or extra damage vs any monster type. Also, turret blasts in t1 and t2 are fairly easy to avoid as long as it's not in a really tight space, so pulling out the Boltbrand and dodging behind them takes care of them really quickly.
Aemicus' preference for a piercing sword with an elemental sword is great. So is a piercing sword with a shadow sword. So is an elemental sword with a shadow sword. However, the original poster wants to carry a gun.
I know this doesn't really answer your question, but why 2 slots!?!?
You can easily get 4 slots if you are F2P. I mean seriously I'm only 4* and i've got 3 slots. All you need to do is farm RJ maybe 2-3 times and there you go. Every time I do RJ (and the arena before it) I get about 6k for only 40 CE do that twice and you have 12k, do that a third time and you have 18k thats enough if your trading 7K for 100CE. just do 17.5K for 250CE and there you go, 250CE, you can get a trinket slot. Or you can not trade and do the RJ with the CE you got and then easily pay for your outgoings of CE.
I know that this doesn't answer your question but still always go for 4 slots.
:)
Omega,What does F2P stands for........?
I just bought a Firotech Alchemer and a Flourish. So what should I buy for the armor?
For a situation like Nordlead, the Magnus compliments very nicely with elemental swords IMO. Its powerful, minor knockback, and stuns. Works well on Wolvers, but it takes a bit of practice to get used to. Magnus can stun-lock normal Wolvers too. The Magnus is also near-impossible to dodge.
Depends on what you want- There's no perfect set dedicated to one gun-one sword. I mean you arent neither a true swordman nor a gunslinger as of now.
Think of what you wat to be in the future. I'm more inclined to suggest wolver line because of it's upgrade path: it starts with piercing, good for jelly runs but also can resist elemntal/fire later on for vanaduke.
"F2P" means "free to play" --- that is, not spending any real-world money.
For a general-purpose armor set I recommend (still) Divine Veil and Skolver Coat. Or get Vog Cub Cap and Skolver Coat (or vice-versa) if you're more interested in swords. Or get Nameless Hat and Justifier Jacket (or vice-versa) if you're more into guns.
So...... after I upgrade all my equips,I will get Divine Veil,Skolver coat,Final Flourish and............wait. Should I use Owlite Shield? If not,I need suggestions for shield.
Owlite is good, or Barbarous Thorn Shield. It depends on your armor and trinkets. Also, Volcanic Plate is very good if you're doing FSC.
Is there any difference between Barbarous Thorn shield and Grey Owlite shield? And which one is better?
Yeah, a ton of difference. I can't say which one is better though, as it really depends on what your playing style is and which stratum you're playing in. You can find info about them in the two links, and decide which you want to get first, but I would suggest having a whole range of shields to really be prepared.
So all i need is Skolver coat,Divine Veil,Grey Owlite shield,Final Flourish and Magma Driver?
It's decent enough. But I'd suggest to stop at least on 4* on the weapons and get more alternatives.
What do you mean ''get more alternatives''? and should i just buy those things(Skolver coat,Divine Veil,Grey Owlite shield,Final Flourish and Magma Driver)only or i should buy more armors and weapons to defend against other monsters?
Yes, all you need for general Clockworks play is Divine Veil, Skolver Coat, Grey Owlite Shield, Final Flourish, and Magma Driver. You have to get the helmet all the way to 5-star, before you get the protection you want. (I mean, the 4-star version is very different.)
What Juances is suggesting is that you get the rest of the items to 4-star, which is almost as good as 5-star, and then re-evaluate your plan. That is, try some other swords and guns (and bombs), to see what you've been missing. Most of the cost in making a 5-star item comes in the final upgrade from 4-star to 5-star. So explore some other equipment, before you make the costly push to 5-star.
For example, in general you're going to want to own a shadow weapon, particularly for the Royal Jelly Palace. (Even if you carry only two weapons at a time, it's a good idea to own a piercing weapon, an elemental weapon, and a shadow weapon.) So maybe you'll want to get a Nightblade in there.
Actually I was thinking of getting Final Flourish,Combuster and Acheron.
Final Flourish, Combuster, Acheron is a great setup. The only reason I didn't suggest such a setup earlier is that you said that you wanted a gun.
Edit: If you still want a gun, and you still want to play with just two weapon slots, then get Final Flourish (or BTB), Magma Driver (or any elemental gun), and Acheron (or Gran Faust). Carry your gun and one of the swords, depending on whether piercing or shadow seems more useful.
Which one should i upgrade first? My helm,my coat,my shield,my sword or my gun?And i think piercing is more useful than shadow.
I address the general question "Which should I upgrade first?" at the end of my general equipment guide. The short answer is that it usually doesn't matter much.
For me to give you more specific advice, you'll have to remind me exactly which items you're currently thinking of upgrading. We've discussed so many versions of your loadout that I don't understand what you're doing anymore.
When you say that piercing is more important than shadow, you mean in weapons? Yes, that's probably true in general. But you will want a shadow weapon, for the levels that really call for it. The most popular example would be the Royal Jelly Palace.
I'm thinking of upgrading my flourish first. Then for my gun.But when I upgrade my armor,I should upgrade my hood first right?
And also, maybe u shudder get a voltedge instead of combuster? IMO its a lot better
Voltedge is better? And what do you mean IMO?
Kmlyakuza, you keep asking which item to upgrade first, but we don't know which items you're even considering at this point. So please list all of the items that you plan to upgrade, and then we can tell you what to upgrade first.
Sorry Bopp that I made you messed up.And the items that I plan to upgrade is below:
~Magic Hood
~Wolver Coat
~Owlite Shield
~Flourish
~Firotech Alchemer
your equipment seems to be weak for an FSC (5* boss) Run.
Here's the equipment i bring for FSC, you might use it too
~Vog cub coat
~Vog cub cap
~Grey owlite shield
~Avenger / Glacius (You cant burn enemies with combuster on FSC)
~And Polaris (The best elemental gun in my opinion)
Also, if you like to use sword, get Barbarous Thorn blade, it's bad for FSC but good for everywhere else.
It gives bonus sword damage
Okay, Kmlyakuza. Sometimes the order of upgrading matters, because the damage types change as you upgrade. But in your case they don't change much until 5-star. So here's what I would do:
* Upgrade all of these items to 3-star. As you do this, upgrade the weapons before the armor (unless you are dying a lot; then upgrade some armor first).
* Once they are all at 3-star, upgrade all of these items to 4-star.
* Once you get all of these items to 4-star, you should re-evaluate your choices, as Juances suggested. For example, you might want to get a Nightblade (if you haven't already) and upgrade that to 4-star.
* The first item that I would upgrade to 5-star is the Magic Hood. The reason is that the 5-star Divine Veil is different from the 4-star Miracle Hood; you finally get some shadow protection at the 5-star level.
If you are going with one sword and one gun, I recommend using Nova Driver (Prismatech line). If you have to rely on your gun to kill slimes (which are resistant to the Flourish's piercing damage), you want a neutral element Alchemer else you'll set Oilers on fire or shock Quicksilvers.
@Frederick: Polaris is best at killing turrets, but overall best probably goes to Nova or Storm driver. However, if killing turrets is the main thing you use your gun for, then it is the best choice. The Polaris has terrible DPS against non-turrets because it knocks enemies out of range; worse, it reduces the team's overall DPS because you make it harder for swordsmen to stay on target.
Mohandar raises a good point about oilers. You might consider switching to Prismatech/Nova, Kmlyakuza. Or you could just stick with what you have, and just accept the fact that you will kill oilers very slowly with your Flourish. They're not so common that it really matters much.
I think I'll go another set like:
~Vog cub coat
~Vog cub cap
~Grey Owlite shield
~Divine Avenger
~Nova Driver
===>I'll keep this plan for my next set
Your latest proposed set has a problem: There are only elemental weapons. You will have a lot of trouble against gremlins and beasts, with this setup.
Once again, the key idea here is damage type. Read the wiki page "Damage" to learn the monsters' vulnerabilities and resistances. They're not hard to memorize. You want to own a piercing weapon, an elemental weapon, and a shadow weapon. Carry all three, or just carry the two that seem most relevant to the level/stratum you're entering.
So your previous plan (piercing sword, elemental gun) was far better, even though it had a problem with oilers.
But.......Will my previous plan(magic hood,wolver coat,owlite shield,flourish,firotech alchemer)have any problems when battling with monsters in Tier 4?
There is no Tier 4. Do you mean Tier 3? Do you mean Stratum 4 (the second half of Tier 2)?
Your previous plan is good against all monsters, except for a particular kind of lichen called an oiler.
But what about what Frederick said? And I was thinking of making a new plan-a gunner combination set. Please leave a suggestion.
Frederick's advice was just for the Firestorm Citadel (Vanaduke boss levels). In there, elemental damage is all you need, because there are very few beasts and no gremlins. In general, it is unwise to bring only elemental damage into the Clockworks; you want two non-normal damage types. By the time you get to FSC, you will probably have a wider variety of equipment than just a Flourish and a Magma Driver. That's why I haven't been worrying about your FSC setup. We can't worry about every single aspect of the game at once.
If you do want one set that handles everything, then change your Firotech/Magma into a Prismatech/Nova. This would also help against oilers, which Mohandar was worried about. So:
* Magic Hood to Divine Veil
* Wolver Coat to Skolver Coat
* Owlite Shield to Grey Owlite Shield
* Flourish to Final Flourish
* Prismatech Alchemer to Nova Driver
* (and Acheron or Gran Faust at some point?)
What about the gunner set that I asked before? And I prefer Gran Faust than Acheron.
Did you propose a gunner set? I don't see it. Or were you just looking for suggestions? Guns are just like swords, in that they are ruled by damage type. You want a piercing gun, an elemental gun, and a shadow gun.
* piercing: Callahan, Blitz Needle, or Plague Needle
* elemental: Nova Driver, Storm Driver, Magma Driver, Hail Driver, or Polaris
* shadow: Umbra Driver or Biohazard
(Also, the game designers may change Argent Peacemaker to elemental and Sentenza to shadow.) For armor, consider getting one piece of Nameless and one piece of Justifier. Grey Owlite is still good.
personally, i think u just started this game, and i think u should be using wiki more and play the game more instead of askin worthless quetions
to Bopp.
@Bopp
hey bro, he is hopeless. admit it. u r the best advisor i know, and even tho u explain answers to his questions really good,
he still does not shuts up. so let him play the game more than aakin stupid questions to u.
dont waste ur time. again i honestly think u r the advisor and the most experianced... really. i wish i could be like u. but dont waste ur time on this.
From ur good friend,
Thor
Thanks, The-Thor, for your praise. I suspect that the poster is not a native English speaker, so I've been trying to be generous. But I agree with you that he should just get some equipment, play the game, and figure out what he likes. There's only so much planning that one can do.
The OP said "What about the gunner set that I asked before?"
Bopp said "* piercing: Callahan, Blitz Needle, or Plague Needle
* elemental: Nova Driver, Storm Driver, Magma Driver, Hail Driver, or Polaris
* shadow: Umbra Driver or Biohazard"
The issue with giving all of the possibilities of guns is that not all of the guns are very great for all situations. Polaris is great useful on gun puppies and FSC as well as dark cities / devilite levels, but very annoying in groups and mostly used in solo. Its damage to groups of mobs is very low as opposed to an alchemer. because it shocks, it can completely fail to knock back a mob, which can soon mean it moving up and into the safety (area where polaris bullets do not expand). The slow moving bullets and safety makes the polaris hard to use for every situation.
As for piercing guns, you are limited to the callahan. The needle lines make you immobile for a very long time, and that is the opposite of what you want against things that dodge, as they tend to be quick to attack / throw a chair at you. The needle also makes them rapidly dodge or burrow - chances are you will only get a few small hits of the fan of bullets of a needle. Blitz needle is pretty much only to be used in FSC or graveyards / used on menders. You want to take a Callahan because you can quickly shield after shooting it regardless of being immobile. Because more bullets make dodgers rapidly dodge and you might only get a single bullet off anyway, you want that bullet to count. And that one good bullet is a bullet from a 2-shot damage-packed Callahan. Not to mention it stuns and knocks down a lot of dodgers, allowing you to spam shots at it regardless in lower tiers, making it much more effective in lower tiers if thats what you are looking at. Callahan can also, tier 2 and 3, knock down gremlins with every single shot (except in 4 player groups in tier 3).
For shadow guns, you have a bigger option. Biohazard to excel on slimes, or take umbra driver for better area effect damage (even better than biohazard charge attacks because of split bullets) and umbra has its uses on gremlins, whereas the biohazard is very slow and a pain to use on gremlins. Biohazard is definately more fun though.
Also, if you are only using two weapons, if you are to take the piercing blade / elemental gun option, make sure you do not take a firotech / voltech alchemer because you will have a very hard time taking down quicksilvers / oilers. I would suggest a cryo / prismatech. Cryo can only re-freeze the freeze cubes, not heal them.
I agree with almost everything The-Rawrcake has said. Although I have a Hail Driver, I'm not a big fan of it, so I vote for Nova Driver instead.
The-Rawrcake is quite right, that by simply listing all of the 5-star guns of each type, I was not really giving advice. That's because I'm trying not to tell people what to get; I'm trying to tell them what their options, and I'm asking them to make the final decision. The-Rawrcake's notes will certainly help the OP. :)
I got a problem:I want to wear a gunslinger hat but its 3-star and I need to go through Tier 2 wearing 2-STAR equips.Need help!!!
You can wear whatever the hell you want in t2 as long as it isn't below 2*
I think this will clear up some confusion:
You seem to be mixing up Stars with Tiers.
0 stars and 1 stars is Tier 1.
2 stars and 3 stars is Tier 2.
4 stars and 5 stars is Tier 3.
There is no Tier 4 or 5.
When trying to advance to the next teir, you need to have the minimum requirement of stars on your equipment. For example: To get into Tier 2 in the clockworks you need to have all 2* OR ABOVE equipment.
The stars on your equipment do not matter as long as they are ABOVE the minimum requirement for that tier. For example: You can wear 2 stars or above in Tier 2. You can have 5 star equipment in Tier 2.
I hope this helped.

People often ask about this, because the Cobalt line seems to be the "default" armor. However, Cobalt armor is actually not very good. It protects against normal damage and piercing damage. Okay. But it offers no status protections and no offensive bonuses. If you're into swords, then the Wolver line (working toward Skolver) is far better piercing armor. If you're into guns, then the Gunslinger line (working toward Justifier) is far better piercing armor.
Your other question is essentially "Cold Iron Vanquisher, or Leviathan Blade, or something else"? Levi is better than CIV, but you should seriously consider getting something else entirely. My sword guide directly compares CIV and Levi, and it explains how to exploit damage types, to build an effective weapon set.
For us to give you personalized advice on weapons, we'd have to know more about you. Do you plan to play with two, three, or four weapon slots? Do you want to use a sword and a gun, or just swords, or some bombs, or what? What are your other weapons?
