Very very simple: a magical tome that makes a "light shield" in front of it, but when the shield breaks, the light shield dissapears and you stay only with the tome.

The general idea is: a shield version of faust/avenger (i was also inspired by gospel's glyph accesory idea: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/37442).

both lines would start with the old tome (3* ,neutral, normal only defense, the light shield is green-colored),

but then you would choose between

Shadow tome (4* ,shadow/normal defense, faust-ish light shield). -> Necronomicon ( 5*,shadow/normal defense, bonus defense agnist curse, gran faust-ish light shield)

Light tome (4* ,elemental/normal defense, avenger-ish light shield) -> Tome of souls (5* , elemental/normal defense, bonus defense agnist shock, divine avenger-ish light shield).

You are probaly thinking: "this shield is way too powerful! it will never be accepted." but i have some ideas to balance it:

1- all shields (both lines + old tome) have weakness to fire.
2- its a boss reward, making it really harder to get one with a good UV.

so.. what you guys think?

Assuming the status

Assuming the status resistances on these shields work as they normally do for shields, the Tome of Souls is most likely outclassed by the Grey Owlite Shield (which is a normal/elemental shield with both fire and shock resistance). In order for it to not be outclassed, the Tome of Souls either needs another status resist (preferably not fire) or higher base stats than the Grey Owlite Shield. It would also have to lose its weakness to fire, unless you go with both improvements at once.

The Necronomicon would probably not be used anywhere if it has a weakness to fire, since the only area that has a lot of curse-dealing enemies (Shadow Firestorm Citadel) also has a lot of fire-dealing enemies and traps. Remove this weakness to fire and it will become useful in Shadow Firestorm Citadel, but I still don't see it being used anywhere else (except maybe graveyards).
