New Mechanic Implementation Suggestion: Fire

This is just a suggestion in the light of fun!

When a player is frozen, they are stuck. But they can be unstuck if another player were to bash the ice with the swing of the sword.

That's a fun mechanic!

So what if...you apply the same thing to fire?

Knight 1: AHHHH. IT BURNS! *Runs around like crazy*
Knight 2: Come here! Let me put it out! *Draws sword, then proceeds to chase down Knight 1*
Knight 1: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! OH GOD! AAAAHHHHHHH!!

I personally found it HILARIOUS, but in seriousness, why not?
Technically, you could put out flames by batting them out anyway.

It would make getting lit up less of a threat (party pending), more fun (humor pending), and
pretty useful. It's not exactly game breaking (do point out flaws and such).
Being set on fire at this point in the game is really scary and not fun at all!

Make it so it takes a few hits to put the flames out? Some smoke could trail the victim for a
while.

Anyway, just my suggestion from an average player's perspective.

You can do more with this

It would be funny, but why not just make ice bombs and the like put out flames.

Might as well make other things interact with each other.

Potential Logical Flaw.

Potential Logical Flaw. Please kill me for applying real world physics to a cute game about clockwork knights.

Do you know WHY batting flames with say, a blanket or a huge cloth puts out a fire? Flames need 3 things to burn. Heat, oxygen, and fuel. When you smother the flame with a blanket, you don't hit it with a rolled up one. You try to push as much air away from the fire as you can, in its very essence. You remove one of the components-- oxygen, in order for the fire to die out.

In real life, if you ran around while on fire, you're doing nothing more than feeding the fire's oxygen supply by moving into more. I can see how in a game, they don't want running around to refresh the DoT, so that's fine.

Hitting someone with a sword to put out fire would be the equivalent of trying to put out a fire with a broomstick. You can't feasibly remove any of the 3 factors, heat, oxygen, or fuel, by swinging around the broomstick at the fire.

Rentago does offer a good point though. Why not make ice bombs or cryotech alchemers put out flames? That would make more sense, anyway.

re: logic

I do understand how fire works..in the real world. My suggestion was mainly about adding a mechanic to put the really painful DoT known as fire out inside the game. If you really wanted to argue what "makes sense" inside Spiral Knights...you'd have a lot more to worry about than just fire.
Its a game! Maybe the laws of physics are quite different than our own. I mean...there are sentient slime beings, birds with rotary wings, ghostly felines which spew fireballs, hearts hidden in tall grass, spiked floors which does not cause instant death, and a lot more! Why can't I have a way to put out the really scary fire which just makes me more sad instead of having fun.

re: Bombs and other things
I like the alchemer idea, but not the bomb.

i dont care for logistics

all im saying is instead of just looking at fire why not look at everything else. If a person is frozen, you cant shoot them or bomb them to break it.

I thought if it were easier for things like ice putting out fire and vise versa. Though i dont expect poison bullets to cancel out curse.
