I know they have that [bullcrap] waiver responsibility when someone gets [cheated] in a trade or have their items/ce/cr etc stolen from someone. I got 600 ce stolen from a guy name epicpwnster thinking he would sell me a sealed sword with asi high. I ignored the name, the bad connections he was getting with his laptop, and most of all the unbelievable price. He even tried to talk me into giving him the full 1kce, he said he wanted to sell it for 400 ce profit.

Seriously, why doesn't OOO just let us preview these merchant's equipment before making a purchase so we don't have to run into this [bullcrap] anymore?

What Dark Ritual?

You can preview their equipment, ask them to show it in inspect. If it's unbound, and they don't want to rebind it, then simply show it in trade.

Also, /complain [Playername] works as well. So /complain epicpwnster.

Haha, you guys didn't infer

Haha, you guys didn't infer from my post that the 600 ce was suppose to be the unbinding fee that was given to him first. He had it bound supposedly, of course for that particular sword he didn't. Cmon guys, it's common sense. And some of us has been through deals with a couple of guys we barely know(either they have posted on the bazaar or not) and some of us had to pay upfront unbind fees first, so I took the same chance, though the ASI high at that price and name should've aroused anybody's suspicions.

Yer posts are a bit rambling, but ...

though the ASI high at that price and name should've aroused anybody's suspicions.

Should have raised your suspicions.

If the seller doesn't have the item unbound, don't give him the dough. I realize you got scammed and are sour. But this is your best defense from letting it happen again.

Cmon guys, it's common sense. .....yes, yes it is.

Report him ingame. None of us can help you here. Chrono-Chaos has shown you the commands.

You shall not get much sympathy coming on here ranting and cursing at us.

That is all.

I've submitted a complaint on

I've submitted a complaint on this guy through the game, hopefully the game masters will try something to compensate me on losing 600 ce and ban that guy.

Yes, I should've raised my suspicions, but my emotions overcame me when I heard about that price. It's weird as well, cause I knew a guy told me that he got a fang of vog with asi high from someone for 1kce for helping beginners out in snorborlax runs. I've seen his sword and asked about how much he got it for prior hand. Those are just extremities of genorosity though, not market value, and there are rare times when someone is really generous to another. I recall a guild member said his nephew got 65kce from a guy donning a Skelly set.

Anyway, in the future, I would most likely only buy from reputable or recurring sellers, and also guys that don't have tacky shady names like epicpwnster, guy sounds like he's pretty young.

And I should've asked him to equip the sword and show me first, it would at least be one step closer to an authentic trade, but that just slipped my mind.

Uh, are you even allowed to

Uh, are you even allowed to show curse words even if they are through links, cause I've gotten 2 notifications from GMs about using foul language.

I don't know how to use HTML Tagging in these types of Forums.

So I just put in the Links. Still makes everyone laugh though, right? Right.

EDIT: By the way, I look for Pics without the Bad Words in them.

Maybe for everybody else.

Maybe for everybody else. This is the first time I've never asked someone for inspection of their gear before buying though. I recall my other purchases like the Umbra driver. So, I guess the moral of the story is to encourage more physical/electronic robbery because no one is there to regulate it.

Dude, you accept the risk when you trade him the unbind fee. Also, keep the language clean, and you're not allowed to call out other players. ._.

So alright, I feel that the

So alright, I feel that the honest buyers aren't going to be protected at all, and I guess it all results in more potential income for them. I don't want to get into how taking a risk in Spiral Knights is different from other kinds like from financial investments, cause I'm not completely sure if they're all similar, cause I guess you can be cheated if you forward the money in some indirect sense cause I'm not sure if financial institutions would have you waiver their responsibility as I don't have that experience. Anyway, I feel that they could easily give back the money, but won't, either cause they'll believe the story is fabricated or whatnot.

Anyways, I should've inspect the guy first, even though that is probably no way to secure the trade or minimize the risk. I wish there was some freaking sleepy-proof ways to protect the buyer, cause man, I shouldn't have stayed up all night.

Suggestions have been around forever to have the ability for 2 people to use Boost so the trade can take place through him. One guy puts up the ce, the other the item. Hit confirm. The guy who put up the ce gets the item, and the guy who put up the item gets whatever ce is left over.

Ex:
Player A: Bound Sealed Sword
Player B: 1k ce
Confirm trade
Player A: Receives 400 ce (1k - 600 unbind cost)
Player B: Receives unbound Sealed Sword

At least if this was implemented, we could call you and others that are scammed in this way flat-out stupid instead of naive. I envy your ability to trust in some ways.

@Ranzoh

YOU should be banned for firstly calling someone out on the forums and secondly your foul language.
And as they say, a fool and his money are easily parted, go away, read some books and stop posting in the forums.

If you dont know a seller,

If you dont know a seller, then just make sure they are being legit by asking them to show you their gear in a trade window or equipped. My advice: Never EVER mail/trade CE to someone you don't know. Just be safe with your CE. Some people are very trustworthy, however. Just check the bazaar and familiarize yourself with trustworthy sellers. (Giannii, Darkrayleigh, rhipdclxvi, etc.)
TL;DR: Never do indirect trades with strangers, always check for legitimacy, and familiarize yourself with common/trustworthy buyers.

As the saying goes "You'd

As the saying goes "You'd think it'd can't be scammed or whatever, but then that day comes". My excitement overcame my common sense. Plus, I'd questioned why in my head once he would sell at that price, and my guess was that it was x-mas and he was in the spirit of generosity. Cause the guy knew what he had and I knew immediately after what he said at the bazaar. When he asked me why he wouldn't give me the full 1kce(400 ce of profit) he told me that everybody would want a sword at that deal or something. I took snapshots, and will post them if anybody wants to see later on.

Calling out good or decent players is bad. But calling out punks like Epicpwnster is something that should be encouraged for other people to benefit in the future and to watch out for the guy. You shouldn't discourage that at least. At least for guys that just walk out and quit the game out on you after taking your items. The guy had a dusker set, which still shouldn't fool anyone(since regular sellers use beginner gear sets), since they can just delete their account and make a new temporary one. Unless they're that mental about getting ce and paying the costs to recraft or re-buy 3* sets, I hope that is not an intense practice for people like him.

And I only euphemistically cursed.

I think using a middle-man like boost is a great idea, so it protects both the buyer from getting his CE stolen and also the seller from paying unbinds(but I think the seller would eventually find a buyer anyway). It's a good way to protect yourself from mistakes, but I'm guessing this would take a lot of work, and that people have faith on the current peer to peer trade system and that people will operate their brains at 100% at all times.

No, but that's because I

No, but that's because I operated my logic on past events and most people have trusted me on paying upfront unbinding fees and vice versa. This was the only deal that went wrong. There are still some shady people in this world.

As the saying goes "You'd

As the saying goes "You'd think it'd can't be scammed or whatever, but then that day comes". Nah, that’s not the saying at all. You got your CE back, learn from your mistake, a lot of people aren't as fortunate to get their cash back (especially as it was a legit trade and it was your mistake).
Whether you think calling people out is a good idea or not, it is NOT allowed and with good reason; this forum has descended far enough into bickering and trolling as it is.

Doh... Buyers ARE protected.

Doh...

Buyers ARE protected. Thats why we have TRADE, thats why you can see items that are put in TRADE, thats why BOTH sides need to confirm TRADE. Thats why every time there is a change in items put in TRADE confirm button is inactive for 5 seconds so you can notice changes.

If you give someone unbind fee in advance its your respoinsibility. Dont complain if he rips you off from your money then. DOH, why do people are so stupid? They give someone money and then complain when he steals them.

And seriosly, UNBINDING item is a Seller responsibility.
