Diablo 3 can learn something from Spiral Knights

It was my quest to find a replacement game to play until Diablo 3 came out, and I found Spiral Knights.

Diablo, like Spiral Knights, uses an Isometric camera. Although, Diablo 1 and 2 is specifically Click-to-Move.

This game perfected the use of WSAD in a game of this style. And its a shame that a poorly marketed game can accomplish something that Blizzard/Activision isn't even in the same ballpark of accomplishing.

....and I take it for granted when I realize I'll be clicking to move again when I go to Diablo 3.

At least I can release one last Spiral Knights video to tribute WSAD movement in an Isometric Game...

Wait…

WASD movement ISN'T ubiquitous in isometric action games on the PC? I had no idea…

great video

That was a cool tribute. Also approve of the music selections. I do miss the old battle theme from AO(I WISH someone would make an MMO like that again).

Incidentally, I also picked up Spiral Knights while waiting for Diablo 3. However, since I grew up on click-to-move isometric games(D1, D2, RO), the control scheme for D3 doesn't bother me much. I actually use a gamepad to play SK instead of WASD.

Now if the game would only come out. Haha.

I know right?! But it isn't. Especially when it comes to Diablo 2. In fact theres actually a huge following of people who have never played an isometric game other than the Diablo series which is Click-to-Move.

Its nothing but a mass of confused, uninformed people clammoring about how WSAD should never be implemented and how its dumb to do it.

Its a sad affair and its very tragic. I'll still be playing D3, but it won't be because of its' control scheme for sure!

@ Huhbum Thanks, and yeah I've played Click-to-move isometric for YEARS. I'm so glad I've hit upon Spiral Knights because the game has taught me that WSAD is not only POSSIBLE in an isometric game....It's Beautiful!

yeah I am actually sticking

yeah I am actually sticking with spiral knights > diablo 3 due to sk probably having better combat (after playing SK I cannot for the life of me go back to diablo 2)

Anyways, that jelly king clip. The music and everything, THATS how spiral knights hardmode should have been like. You should have to do things like mechanics: taking down the polyps when you know they won't respawn, trapping cubes, popping vials when you have to burn the king like when the polyps all respawn when JK hits x amount of health so you can push him into his berserking phases instead of throwing whatever you can at him at any time. Also like how it takes a guy in proto to show that mechanic of leading JK into exploding blocks. I have heard so much about leading him into exploding blocks to help, but it was never necessary / necessary to the point that it would be shown in a video like it was important.

On top of how I liked watching the mechanics, the music fit the fight as well. Nice how you didn't throw some music that you "i think sounds awesome." More battle-like instead all wierd and haunted like it is now for JK.

Please OOO.... do something like this... we shouldn't have to do JK in proto to make a hardmode encounter... that shadow lair expensive no-fun crap that nobody wants to waste their money on for costumes with the joke freezing and shadow stuff on ground doesn't make an encounter hard. Also, new content would be nice. No... SL do not count.

I know what you mean, I find it hard staying in this game because there isn't new content (not talking about things like christmas events lol). I've done all the shadow lairs shortly after they came out, they were good...but don't encourage replayability of them =(

And yeah, I like how the proto fights resulted in a completely different way I had to fight both Twins and Royal Jelly. This was mostly because I was looking for content and after doing them both in 2 star gear, thats how the proto project came to be.
