I am looking for some feedback to find out if there is enough interest to warrant and maintain hybrid threads. Some reasons for this are I see alot of crossover questions in the (ask a master xxxxx)threads that also implicate further problems because they are not based around gear+weapon optimization. Given that it is easier to effectively gear for 2 weapon types than it is for 3.

Also I would love to see some different names people would choose to give the different hybrids!

An example would be

Btw, running 2 swords + 2 bombs is the way to go!

Sword and bomb combo that works nice is leviathan blade and shivermist because leviathan blade double hits frozen things before knocking them back as usual. Though this is mostly for solo, in a group you can have one person shiver, one person spinning. Otherwise you have people breaking the freeze in a group.

The most popular sword / gun thing is probably a piercing blade and prismatech gun. Only two because its a popular F2P combo for those that cannot afford a third weapon slot. Prismatech so you dont have a disadvantage against any of the status slimes.

Also for sword / gun, a hail driver would work nice to pair with calibur, with a low * cryotech and a long ctr calibur, i find it still capable of getting a clipping spin off before the freeze thaws out. This way, instead of using a freezing bomb, you have that handy gun for kiting those elemental damage taking enemies except for fiends, and turrets especially. Also another F2P option, because it doesn't include that third weapon slot.

@Aemicus Scout and Spy are associated with stealth. On contrary, a sword+bomb combo means you are going to be at close range most of the time, so that doesn't really match. Runner, why not, but that would more apply to a bomber than a swordie. Swordies mostly slash :p And i still prefer Commando <3

As for sword/bomb combo, the idea for me is more to deal with crowds using bomb (because they rox at it) and slash through lone mobs/turrets.

But as for sword+bomb combo, the best is probably Vortex + either brandish charge or sealed sword normal swings (the timing to place a DA charge is very short, and GF charge is too long for that). Vortex really shines once you upgrade it to 5* (I just did it, and did some runs with guildies, it's really great in a coordinated team).

Recon = gun + bomb :)

I've taken to using bombs and guns recently, I just think of it as 'Recon' style. Between Ash of Agni (Voltaic Tempest for Fire themed levels) and the appropriate gun (Storm Driver, Umbra Driver, Biohazard) everything gets cooked or fried to completion- it is a highly effective solo loadout. It also does great in a team, being minimally disruptive while contributing plenty of damage. I do have a Callahan, but I find it rather lacklustre and prefer to spam Dark Briar Barrage on Wolver Den levels. The most important thing I've found for gunners is to get those two Elite Trueshot modules. You need every bit of damage you can get.

I dunno what to say, but I think a word like "raider" would probably describe my fighting style best.
Basically:
Step 1) Run in with a bomb
Step 2) Get out
Step 3) Kill everything that just got shivermisted/vortexed in ten seconds flat.
Yeah. *shrug* Kill everything quick.
