Let me start off by saying that you guys at TRD have done a fantastic job at creating varied levels in Spiral Knights. You created levels that differ wildly both in monster selection and looks, all while keeping the clockpunky undertone in check.
That being said, it'd be fun to see some new environments tossed in to the Clockworks. This is one of those environments.
WHAT IS ORANGESTONE CANYONS, IN A NUTSHELL?
The Orangestone Canyons is an area within the Clockworks that resembles the fantasy Wild West worlds; Sand covers most surfaces, Cacti are strewn across the land, and cliffs and canyons are drawn throughout. It's more of a "natural" area like Jigsaw Valley, and not like the iron-built floors of the rest of the Clockworks.
GENERAL APPEARANCE
I'm terrible at photoshopping 3D images. Sure, I might be able to make a decent sprite or two for Minecraft, but when it comes to something like this then count me out. I'll try to explain it the best I can, though.
The Canyons would be covered in sand. No surprise there. Just take an average surface of Jigsaw Valley and replace the grass with sand and baked dirt. Walls and cliffs would reveal the iconic orange-colored stone underneath the sand. Various kinds of cacti would replace some of the foilage you see in other areas. Some lethal, some not. You could tell the difference by seeing the gigantic thorns on the damaging cacti. Bushes and trees could still exist. This isn't the Sahara desert, these are canyons!
The sky would be a vibrant sunset orange. The texture would be about the same as Jigsaw Valley, though. It'd just be like if the sky-sphere simulated sunsets as well as midday light.
MONSTERS
The selection of monsters would vary a bit oddly. the Wolver series, Lumber series, Gremlin series, and pretty much every other monster that has to do with being dry would appear here, with the exception of the Construct family, mostly. The variations in said monsters would be mostly normal type, with some fire types thrown in to the mix.
Hope you like this idea, and if you do, get it popular! :3
This is an awsome idea..
I have none of my own, but we need more area types.
