Hi, I have a few questions about crafting.
1: I'm trying to craft a tempered calibur. The alchemy machine wouldn't take my level 10 calibur so I checked the wiki. It looks like the recipe for the tempered version requires a level 1 calibur, am I reading that correctly?
2: I went ahead and crafted a calibur and got a unique variant. It has Damage Bonus vs Beast: Low. Is that worth much more than a baseline calibur? If I upgrade it via alchemy and elect to keep the UV, does it just keep the UV or is there a chance a second one will be added?
3: If you craft a bunch of things to get UVs, is there a way to get rid of the extras?
4: Is it generally better to buy the upgraded version for each item (i.e. buy a calibur, use it, later buy the 3 star version, etc) or pay to upgrade your stuff?
5: Unrelated question. After I get a decent stockpile of equipment with various resists and such, how do I determine what to equip to increase survivability? Do I base it off the status effects (background color), the level type (icon), or color (monster type)? I still find gate map icons kind of confusing. Also, how does the theme of a strata relate to the levels found within?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Robo, I will answer your questions as best as I can.
1) You need to un-equip your Calibur first before you can craft it to the next star rating. The same applies to other weapons, shields, armor and helmets.
2) That depends on whether you wish to upgrade your sword all the way to 5 star or not. Most people suggest getting weapons to that deal Shadow, Piercing and Elemental damage rather than sticking to purely Normal damage weapons.
If you upgrade it and decide to keep the UV, you will not get any other UV.
3) You could sell them at the Auction House, provided that you didn't equip them beforehand.
4) It's much cheaper to buy the 2-star equipment and upgrade it on your own, or give it to someone you trust who would help you with upgrading it to 3-star.
5) You choose based on what monsters you will be up against. Look through the Wiki to help with the level names.
You could equip Owlite Shield and armor/helm form the Magic series to defend against Elemental damage, Wolver series and Snarbolax Shield for Piercing damage, as well as Skelly series and Skelly Shield/Vana shield for Shadow damage. Or you could just stick with Magic helm (Divine Veil) and Skolver armor as a general set with the appropriate shields and weapons.
Take care, Robo. Have fun!
