Video: Solo Vana with Polaris, no deaths

Next christmas I won't be eating at the kiddie table. I've finally made it through that rite of passage, I'm all grown up now: I've bested Vana one on one.
I honestly didn't expect to be doing a solo vana that day, and I certainly didn't expect to win, or do it with no deaths, and yet somehow it turned out that way.

The video starts out showing the secret ghost block in D27, so if you like mysteries to stay mysterious just skip ahead to 1 minute or so. If you just want to see the moment of triumph, skip forward another 32 or so minutes.
I never said it was a fast solo...

Haha, and ppl say polaris is useless ;)
gratz
ps. 34:12 ftw :P

People doesn't say Polaris is useless, they say it's annoying (in parties if spammed constantly).
Nice solo, Nicoya. I was thinking of doing it with a Polaris, but I think Blitz will be much faster, and I'm not the most patient knight xD

Yea, time is most annoying. It takes 40~minutes to do run from D23 to D28 and beat vana with team. Here it takes half of hour just for wana fight :F

Yeah people have done, I dunno, 5 minute solos with the blitz needle. It's much harder to not get killed using the BN solo though 'cause you can get flattened by a vana or slag charge while shooting or charging up a shot.

Soloing Vanna and doing all of Fsc No Shield and only Graun Faust as weapon and charge attacks for vanna (No other weapons in inventory)....now that sounds like fun....got to find muppet and do that =0 and Gratz =)

@Njthug I'm not entirely sure if that's possible. I've seen reports that in Phase 5 vana suddenly becomes completely immune to shadow damage, so something like an umbra driver or biohazard should have no effect on him, but I'm not entirely sure if the bullet blade on the Gran Faust does 100% shadow or split shadow/normal like the regular hits.
If the Antigua lines go pure elemental and shadow respectively I'll probably build a Sentenza and take a few pot shots at vana with it to test when I'm heating it up.

Lmao at the end of the video, "in your face vana!" Well done, now I've got to do it =P

Hey, you just did what I tend to do now when I solo xD So grats! It is a bit hard because I tend to have to "guess" where is Vana so that I don't get smashed/rushed/fireball'd and die. Mask parts are easy enough though, quite a breather (hey, I like shoot em'ups, this is easy xD ) and I tend to cool there after "OMG I ALMOST DIED"/"OMG ALL WAS COVERED IN DARKFIRE". And last phase is when it goes all down the gutter usually, not because of the Slag Guards, they are predictable, but because of random changes in Vana's IA: "Oh, I will now just stop here after launching my flamethrower" And then I have it in front of me after making a round around the arena xD
I also take much more time in doing it, so double grats!

looks like you have a better time than when I ended up soloing Vana with a silversix (the other guy in my party tried - unsucessfully - to freeze him with the shivermist) during the fifth phase

very good job, i figured it could be done just didnt know how it would go, obviously it isnt that bad glad to see some creative use of equipment.
Did you know that only so much shadow fire can spawn on the field at once? I like to keep it in far north part of the field. Helps a ton when soloing. Don't have to constantly fear running into it.

@Guyinshinyarmour Yeah, I've heard that. I always worry about getting charged into a briar of shadow fire and not being able to make my way out, though. In general I won't worry too much about the shadow fire that falls up at the top so long as there's a straight line path between the two fountains up there. My first concern for shadow fire is keeping the edges clear so I have a clear path to walk around, especially up against the walls, and secondly to keep the center reasonably clear so my shots actually make it all the way to vana rather than hitting the shadow fire instead.
I actually did another no-death solo today again (didn't record this one), and modified my technique a little bit by planting a plasma cap in the middle of the room just before phase 3 and 5 so that he'd be shocked right away. Dunno how much it helped but I figure every little bit counts.

*Writes on a memo Guyinshinyarmour tip* This will certainly make it shorter. Thanks!
Congrats
