Good question

That's actually a very good question. It seems that opposing damage types on a weapon combine to do slightly less than normal damage (meaning strong type isn't exactly 200% and resisted type isn't exactly 50%). How does that work for neutral + strong (or weak for that matter) combinations? It's kind of hard to answer these questions due to the abstract nature of statistics bars. We can't tell with certainty whether two weapons with identical stat bars actually do equivalent damage (most infamous example is CIV vs Leviathan).

I'm up to tier 2 right now,

I'm up to tier 2 right now, and while I think monsters' resistances and weaknesses and such become more pronounced later on, at the point I am now it seems like using a damage type that is, er... super effective... does an extra 50% (IE 30 instead of 20)
