I've got 4 Weapon slots, used for the Leviathan blade[low bonus vs Undead](For mixed levels like arenaes and such where i don't have time to switch), the Final Flourish[low bonus vs fiend], a Glacius[low bonus vs undead], and an Archeon[low ASB]. My armour is vog coat[low stun res] and skolver cap[low Poison res]. I've got a BTS. I have 2 trinkets, the tri <3 pendant, and focus module. I'm doing ok, but...
I don't have anything to protect me vs shadow(Except my swords but whatever).
What do I do?
I'm thinking a change of shield(As medium bonus to everything Is OK to me(I can always change 1 or both the trinkets if I find the performance of mine lackluster)), but The Dread and the Crest are both the only shields that protect from shadow, and the crest is freaking hard to get, and I don't dig the freeze resistane the Dread gives me(I have Skolver cap...)[EDIT: now that I think about it, I have fire resist from the vog coat...derp. Point moot/invalid/dumb/whatever.].
I would enjoy keeping the vog coat, as I have a toast(y) canteen on it, as well as I wear a volcanic stranget hat with 2 acessories that I kinda want to keep for my aesthetic look.

I realize getting a snarby coat/cap would be nice, but shadow lairs are not my cup of tea right now...
I was kind of like you. I did FSC a bunch, until I got Crest of Almire. It takes a while, especially if you're not very good at the start, but Crest is a good shield.
Independently, I bought a Nightmare Mane and heated up Ash Tail Coat and Cap, and did the Snarbolax Shadow Lair once, to obtain both Snarbolax armor pieces.
Maybe the solution for you is to get one piece of Dread Skelly. When you're ready, wear it with Skolver and Barbarous Thorn Shield into the Snarbolax Shadow Lair, to get Snarbolax armors. Then, later, get Crest if you still feel like it.

But seriously, I may just brave it and farm the crowns from JK to buy the blackened crest, and the recipie, If It doesn't cost more than the shield.

If you're going to buy a shadow shield, getting/crafting a skelly line would be much cheaper than buying a Blackened Crust or Crust of Almire. The CoA is generally regarded as a better shield than the skelly line, but that's mostly due to the fire/shock resist for FSC vs poison/freeze for... not much, really, and the BC doesn't even have that.
I'll just build a DSS over time then.

And get more armor, Say for example, have all 3 wolver lines (snarb, Skolver, Vog) and simply mix and match at the arsenal chests at the start of a level.
