Ok , Here Are The Steps

1)Make Sure Your Either:

b)Together With A Friend (For More Crowns For A Group Rack Up)

2)When You Reach Up To Around Past 100 Energy Or More , Best To Either:

You May Either Fight with:
a)Weapons That Deal Piercing , Elemental , And Shadow Damage (MUST HAVE ALL THAT ARE WIELDED THAT DEAL ALL)
Example: Black Hawk (Shadow+Piercing) + Avenger (Elemental)

b) Weapons That Deal Normal Damage

4)Make Sure To Either Sell Materials , Armors , And/Or Swords For:

a)Cheap Prices (More Cheap , More People)

b)Regular And/Or Reasonable High Prices (For More Crowns)

5)Once You Get Enough Crowns , Make Sure To Buy More Energy[Press On The Energy Icon Below And Click Trade , And Click On "Buy Energy"]

Repeat Step 1-4
6)If You Run Out Of Energy Best To Either:
a)Wait For 1 Day Or "22 Hours" For A Refill On Mist Energy

Okay... so you basically just

Okay... so you basically just outlined "How to play Spiral Knights normally" but you forgot to mention the ways to get crowns FASTER than normal.

Remember:

The second half of a tier will always give more money than the first.
Whenever you can, jump into a friends group if they are in the second half of a tier or an arena.
Doing Jelly King runs gives the most money out of T1 and T2.
You can watch the market, and save your materials to sell them when the price is higher.

Ultimate Scavenger Guide

Also remember to bash every shrub, bush, bucket of bolts, mossed gravestone, stack of books or green couch you encounter. There might be coin inside :-D

^Can't tell if trolling...

You could do that if you wanted to annoy the hell out of everyone on your team who is waiting on the party button...

I don't actually need the cr from the shrub/bush/gravestone/green couch. I just break them to make people people angry.

Another way

All you have to do is get around 5k crowns and then yell "Buying Materials!" And people will trade you. buy the good ones for lower than the auction house then sell them for more than what you bought them for but less then the current lowest price. This way you get an almost 100% chance of sale/profit and it costs no energy at all. This is useful when you are already out of energy and need a way to make crowns. My friend got from 5k to over 70k in under 5 days just from doing that. Buy cheap, sell high, it always works. And try to learn what people will actually buy(don't sell scrap metal and bronze bolts on auction house even if its a good deal.)

selling mats?

I don't know anyone who makes a decent sized amount of crowns from selling mats, without saving up hundreds from dives. From what i can tell, the mats that sell well are either rare, or from sullivan with coins from lockdown or blast network.

I would also advise against split damage weapons, even if you only have two slots. Carrying one of elemental, piercing, or shadow weapon covers all your bases well, with 4 effective and 2 normal damage. As most people run the jelly floors, carrying a shadow and elemental weapon basically lets you run through jellies.

You also forgot recipe selling :P

Oh yeah, buying recipes from

Oh yeah, buying recipes from Basil and reselling can get you a TON of money.
And as for split damage weapons, I don't really agree. I think they are fine as long as one of the damages is normal, such as a Voltedge or DA. I do agree that dual special damage weapons kinda suck...

I travel with a Voltedge and Final Flourish, only 2 weapon slots. I can deal a ton of damage against 4 types of enemies, and still deal the normal amount against the remaining two. You don't need every kind of damage available, just the two you are comfortable with. I will probably get a shadow damage weapon for jellies, but for now, my Voltedge works fine.

breaking shrubs

I was on a guild run and guess what...
Found out its actually worth it to break all the shrubs u see because i broke a shrub and out came out a gold coin. For tier 1 that is a lot. So its worth it. Another thing is opening energy gates for treasure can be worth it because u never know when it will drop a item and when u are tier 1 or even 2 people items can actually be use ful to you and u might even get it to five star. When i say items i mean armor helmet shield any sort of weapon.

Iceyknight, I don't agree

Iceyknight, I don't agree with opening energy gates. If you are less than 3 and there are only 2 or 4 box, it's almost never worth it, unless you have too much mist (ele pass or just not enough time to spend the mist that day). If you are 3 or 4 and you share the cost, it can be worth it to open it (considering that 3 energy = 1 energy per person, meaning about 50/60 crowns, you gain more than that). Certain energy gates are always worth to open, for example the one in a Jelly Farm, which will have a lot of jellies in it (you'll profit for sure) and another in an Aurora Isles level which lead to 9 or so gun puppies + some boxes + some silkwings. Perhaps there are some other of that type worth opening.

The chances to have some items dropping is so low you shouldn't even dream about it.

apologies

thats right aem, i didnt clarify on what kind of split damage. he advised the antigua line, which is what i was referring to. you do suboptimal damage to 4 families, and lower effective damage to 2 other families.

honestly, i only carry my antigua when im running with my friends who go afk alot. i get to make smoke shields around myself :3

Not really an option for most people...

Like the above sez, this option is not for most people. Seriously.

Be completely pro at blastnetwork and just troll everyone else who plays. This doesn't work for most people because if you are NOT pro (and except for a talented few, you are most certainly NOT) you won't get anything except 1 krogmo coin. And the winner gets 500 something crowns (costs 200 to play).

However, you're most likely to face someone who is pro, thus your chances are slim to none.

SUMMARY

EARNING CROWNS
---------------------------
By selling Mats (Materials) can get you money if you use Dexorr's method. You might not get a fortune, like Demonicsothe states, but you can get a pretty decent amount. Also, Merethif is not giving bad advice when he says that you should break all the shrubs, bushes, buckets of bolts, mossy gravestones, stack of books or green couches you find. The HUGE bonus is that not only does the crowns you get amount to something later on, but that many times you will get a HEART, which can help you GREATLY if you are low on health. Blast Network and Lock Down can also help you raise crowns, but this is ONLY recommended for EXPERTS. Also, like Aemicus suggested, following the market (Auction House) prices can greatly help you in selling Mats and Gear.

DAMAGE TYPES
---------------------------
Split damage type weapons can give you a HUGE advantage when fighting different monster types. For example, while fighting the Royal Jelly, if you use normal damage, it might take you at least 5 minutes more to defeat him than if you used SHADOW damage. That is a HUGE bonus if you are doing it solo. Also, when you start venturing deeper in the clockworks, you need to be careful about status conditions and what shields you equip. Here is a simple chart about damage types and monsters:

Monster Type | Damage Type | Weak To | Neutral To | Strongly Resistant To|
Slime............| Piercing..........| Shadow....| Elemental..| Piercing...................|
Beast............| Piercing..........| Piercing....| Shadow.....| Elemental................|
Gremlin.........| Elemental.......| Shadow....| Piercing.....| Elemental................|
Construct......| Elemental.......| Elemental..| Shadow.....| Piercing...................|
Fiend............| Shadow..........| Piercing....| Elemental...| Shadow..................|
Undead.........| Shadow..........| Elemental.| Piercing......| Shadow..................|

A better, more professional version of this chart can be found at: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Damage#Monster_Resistances

ENERGY GATES
---------------------------
I agree with Fradow about when you should actually use it.

SUMMARY
---------------------------
That about sums up my position on this topic, Thank You!
