It's obvious. Players would put up their auction for the cheapest price to attract attention. Then all activity would go higher and higher. Until perhaps a certain climax is reached, then the bidding will stop and would be sold at the price. Why at 1, I don't know. Maybe 1000, but 1? I don't want to see the rageface the guy might get when he sees he sold it out for 30,000 crowns...

lulz, its a cheap trick to attract players with bid. Anyone would want to buy it, so price rises and rises. cheap as hell...
With a 1 crown starting bid, lots of people are going to get bids in and have it in their "My bids" tab, increasing the popularity of the auction.
Also, it's cheaper for the poster in terms of posting fees. Maybe they're flat-out broke and couldn't put up a higher starting bid.
That said, I have a feeling that auction is Metagenic's... ;)
