Good question, too bad admins

Good question, too bad admins dont answer in topics where they would actually need make some kind of statement and answer arguments.

They rather answer silly fun topics that are not related to game itself.

what 3rd parties are willing

what 3rd parties are willing to sell things for has no bearing on MSRP, so I'm only going to look at the price that OOO sells things for.

so, by your estimates the pack is really worth $14, but you forgot to add the hat. Simple math would show that the hat must be priced at $11 if OOO were to sell it directly.

Nordlead
I didn't include hat price because 9 out of 10 hats sell for 1000-2000 crowns, so basically its a bonus item given for free on top of purchase.

Screenshot with Explorer Pack

Screenshot with Explorer Pack offer: $15 price and $25 value:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/ShinigamiUA/screenshot/649876122747683955

Update on prices of Explorer Pack contents, 8-th of January:
Hat - 4k crowns.
Heat amp 7 days - 9k crowns.
Silver key - 40k crowns.
Total - 53k crowns, around 850 ce.
Plus 1000 ce.

Current "value" of explorer pack is 1850 ce (around $6 worth if you sell its contents on auction house) plus elevator pass for 2 weeks.
I still can't see why its advertised as "$25 value"... 2 week long elevator pass is worth $19?

If you take official (NPC)

If you take official (NPC) prices, you get around 3500 ce worth items:
Silver key for 750
7-day heat amp for 1600
1000 ce
Hat for under 100 ce.

Total is under 3500 ce, which is $10 CE pack. Plus elevator pass, which was originally sold for $6/month, so 2 week long should be $3.

Total:
$13 worth items if you calculate based on "official" prices.
Sold for $15.
Advertised as "$25 value".

Somebody please explain to me this "$25 value". What in that package is worth extra $12.

Worry not, I won't - items in the pack don't cover the pack's price.
I'd love to hear how "$25 value" was calculated. Any ideas?

Let's see...

Just run a billion dungeons in 2 weeks!

This is in the wrong forum by the way, not sure how this is a suggestion.

Under OOO's discretion they can put a price tag on anything they want, really. So if you really like that hat or if you really want a 2-week elevator pass then woot! In all sincerity, they can put whatever value they think it's worth, without calculation. I'm pretty sure. And if you're only *really* paying $15 with (NPC Prices) roughly $13, why not? It's like commercial advertising...

"And you get all this for $9.99! (Plus S&H) a NINE THOUSAND DOLLAR VALUE!"

this took lots of math and reasoning hope it explains it

Let see the total amount of ce you get is 3450 and a hat

The most ce is worth in U.S dollar is when you buy the 750ce pack for 2.45 in other words one ce is worth about 1/3 of a cent per every single unit

The elevator pass (30 day version) is worth 5.95 (practically 6 dollars) or 20 cent a day.

The 3450 ce would total up to 11.50 and the 14 day pass would be worth 2.80 or a total of 14.30

There is still 10.70 missing which means the snipe hat has to be worth the 10.70, why maybe because they thought we would value them more like the rose gear.

If you got the snipe hat and sold it around the first few days of the auction you would be have been able to get 200k or more (now you can only get around 60 to 80k) in this case you might have been able to get another 3000 to 4000ce (because the price of ce dropped during that event to 5.6k) and there you would get another 10 to 12 dollars. 11.70(for the total ce value you get) plus 2.80 from the pass and plus the 10 to 12 dollars from the snipe hat would give you 24 to 26 dollars thus completing the value.

However the chance of getting that 25 dollar value was 10 percent because that was you chances of getting a snipe hat. And now it is impossible since the value of snipe hats decrease to 60 to 80k.

In short it might of had the 25 dollar value during the first few day of the event but now the pack can be worth 18 dollars max if you get the snipe hat. If you get any other hat you might get less than what the pack is worth.

Scrolax When did you check CE

Scrolax
When did you check CE pack prices? There is a 3500 CE package right there, and it costs $10.
As for all extra items in packages that came before Explorer Pack (starter pack, battle pack, first and second rose regalia sales): they always came free of charge as extra bonus. Examples:
Starter Pack: $20 price, you get 7500 CE ($20 CE pack) + shield, bomb, trinket and weapon slots, artefact.
Battle Pack: $25 price, you get 9500 CE (more than $25 worth) + costume set
Rose regalia sale 1 (from what I heard): pay $10 or higher and get a free random costume piece
Rose regalia redux (?) sale 2: pay $10 (I mean $9.95 here) and get a free random costume piece

Any costume giveaway included full amount of CE you paid for. With Explorer pack you pay $15 for 1000 ce + ele pass and get a bunch of items free. Basically making ele pass ridiculously expensive. Thats what I believe. But I can't figure out what "$25 value" means.

So my suggestion is:
when you write "$25 value", explain it. What that number means, how you reached that number.

Since there is no explanation from OOO/Three Rings/SEGA, I'm asking what people think it means.

I'd agree that explorer pack is a good deal if its price remained at $3 (even without extras, even without CE) or if it had at least 5k ce for $15 price (5k ce would be somewhere in the middle between $10 and $20 offers of 3500 ce and 7500 ce).

PS: as for advertising, there are very strict laws that prohibit false advertising. You can't just advertise that your $10 bill is worth $20 without explaining its "value".

3500 package

3500 package is buying in bulk that is not the actual amount they value the 3500 CE. You have to go to the the lowest buy-able amount of CE to get close to the value of one CE. Hope that helps with your question about why not to use the 3500 CE amount as your measure.

Maybe i wasn't clear

Like vtmoon said 3500 ce pack is not the best price to compare the total value with.

In the 3500 pack every unit of ce is worth .28 cent rather than .33 cents in the 750 pack and ce is worth .25 cent in the 20,000 pack

So in the 3500 ce is worth 11.66 but you get a bit of a discount for buying a larger amount at once (same reason why things are cheaper in whole sale stores)

In addition the snipe is not state as a free give away because it can only be obtained through the explores pack and is include in the pack.

Unlike the the rose gear, it is not a limited time offer in the sense that for a limited time you could get a free costume for ANY purchase of ce above or equal to a value of 9.95.

So the hat isn't a freebie it is part of the over all product. The only part of the limited time offer was the fact that it was sold for 2.95.

Vtmoon, Scrolax I compare

Vtmoon, Scrolax
I compare things of closest value - items of explorer pack and an equal in size of CE as a single package. You get all those items as a single purchase, so the only proper way to compare value is to compare to a package of equal value. 3500 ce $10 energy pack and 3500 ce worth items.

As for hat, same as any costume, its a free bonus item. Unless any of Admins comes forth and names its $ value, its a free bonus item. Any other item is sold by NPCs and has a CE price, thus can be converted directly into U$D value.

Due to multiple requests, I'm moving topic to General discussions. Hopefully an Admin will come forth and actually explain $25 "value" of explorer pack, nobody so far has been able to do so.

No-Thanks
Zelda

assuming, that u make 3k crowns an hour, which is pretty easy to make, and that u spend 1/3 of ur time playing in the clockworks, ud be making
24/3 * 3k crowns = 24k crowns a day, which gets u
14 * 24k crowns = 336k crowns = 5112 CE(with 6573 crowns per 100 energy) in 2 weeks, which,
combined with ur labour/playtime(this can be neglected, because ur unlimited playtime and ur fun make up for it),
is worth as much as buying CE for 15.2 dollars(given that u buy the 20k packs, otherwise its worth more)

technically(see above), the elevator pass(and the explorer pack including the pass) is worth its money.
if u think, that u wont be playing that much, then u can increase the crown per hour gain(3k per hour really isnt much).
if u do play alot and spend ur time fooling around in haven, then thats another story - ull have to convince the judge/company/whoever, that ur entitled to fully benefit from a product, which u dont intend to use properly.

So...

What you're basically saying is that the value of the Elevator Pass has been increased significantly and had its benefits cut in half?

Wow.

Just think about it for a second.

You have $10 unaccounted for. You have an item (Stranger Hat) you are labeling as "free" and you can't see how the value adds up.

Just because it's labeled as "free", it doesn't mean they are charging you anything for it. It's common sense that when retailers advertise a "free" or "bonus" item, they are charging you for it indirectly by marking up everything else in the package above the usual price.

Clearly, OOO initially valued the Stranger Hat at $10 before they decided to give everyone such a great deal and reduce the price.

Back when Explorer Pack was

Back when Explorer Pack was $3, it fit the CE pricing, and the 2 week elevator pass was warth around $3 too compared with the I month elevator pass for $6, for a combined total of the pack being worth around $6, more adding in Silver Key and Heat Amp.
Right now the pack really does stand out as being way too expensive. The other packs are fit the CE pricing ignoring other items: theory being you pay more money at once, get a better deal.
Of course, you can only buy the standalone elevator pass once; after that the Explorer's Pack is the only way to get it, which is the only reason to buy the Explorers Pack.

I do wish I was smart and bought the $6 Elevator Pack and the 3500 CE for $10 instead of the Explorer's pack for $15

I'm saying that ele pass price has been increased significantly, while its benefits were cut in more than half. Yup, its pretty sad.

Thank you for your opinion regarding elevator pass pricing. Hopefully, people over at OOO will take it into consideration when they make next CE promotion offer.

$5.95 30-days long elevator pass is here to stay! We can now re-purchase it indefinitely!

Topic moved to graveyard, I no longer care what "$25 value" means :)
