EVERYONE knows that there are Traders in the ZONE channel. Problem is, they technically SHOULD be in the TRADE channel.
I made it almost a habit to tell anyone who is using the Zone channel for trade related things to use the Trade channel. Usually, they end up asking: 'What's/where's the Trade channel?'
Fair enough.
However, yesterday, I saw someone who was using the Zone channel to try and sell stuff. I said:
"Use the TRADE channel for all trade related chat please."
Normally, it would more or less end there. But then I got a reply on the channel more or less like:
"Why would I want to use a channel where I'll have to change worlds and [Other excuses here]?"
To which I replied:
"Because that's what it's FOR"
The NEXT thing I know, this person says:
"AH yknow what, I'll just ignore you. Then I don't have to listen to your [Some curse word] whining about everything. I HATE stupid F*** whiners"
etcetcetc... (Btw, I had comic filter on, so i can't EXACTLY tell what he was saying, but there WERE more curse words. I just can't remember the whole text.)
This person was no noob. I saw him in Haven later, and there was NO WAY he was noob. So he knew there was a Trade channel, and as a senior player should show a little more...would you call it 'maturity' in this situation?
Granted, neither was he spamming, but that's not really my point.
The Trade channel is there for Trades who want to buy and sell to advertise. Others looking to buy and sell would likewise tune into that channel.
I don't think its very fair, or very nice, for someone to blow someone off for telling them that they're doing something wrong. (Or perhaps, not quite right. Wrong sounds a bit definite)
NOTE: I can't remember his chat EXACTLY, but those were the main points. I WAS typing a message about the buy/sell thing, but that's when he decided to blow me off.
Not that I think that would have changed anything, now that I think about it.

Yeah
But like I said, people actually wanting/looking to buy/sell stuff will be tuned into it.
Of course, there is the chance of reaching someone who just considered it at a passing fancy through normal/zone chat, but Trade chat is for trade.
And yes, that statement, at LEAST that part, was DEFINITELY mentioned. I remember that part specifically, because even I'm not sure about the range of the chats

Don't mix up maturity with
Don't mix up maturity with level in game. He could easily be a ten year old w/ T3 access, so just because they're clearly not a noob does not imply they should be mature. Don't be surprised at the level of rude behaviour you get from people; it's an MMO, which means that you'll be exposed to the worst of people as well. Nothin' you can do about it any more than if you saw them on the street bein' a jackass, best thing to do is simply ignore it and play the game. S'also the nice thing about instanced dungeons.

Good point. I'll keep that in mind.
I mean seriously, as far as I can tell, this wasn't exactly a provoked response. But already he starts pulling out curses and stuff as if I've been tailing him pointing out everything he's not doing right.
People like that really tick me off.
Like that Penguin in the 'Meet the Spartans' Movie.

Yeah, there's the whole
Yeah, there's the whole "internet abrassiveness" thing to worry about these days, w/ folk feeling comfortable being excessively rude becasue it's all online, so there's really no need to try and fix it w/o just annoying yourself too. If it looks like a genuine mistake or ignorance, then telling them there's atrade channel is a nice, helpful thing to do. If they start givin' you [crap], just ignore or block them, 'cuz there's no chance they're ever gunna change their attitude. Don't let things like that ruin your mood, or ruin the game for you :)

If the above statement was actually said by that person(more or less), he/she would've have been horribly incorrect.
When using zone chat, the message only reaches players in that specific Haven. Trade chat, however, reaches players in ALL Havens(from what I've seen)
In my opinion, the main reason for people to not use trade chat is the fact that it is off by default, leading to only a small percentage of players seeing your message.
