Anyone else not like the Bomb Fuse Changes?

Not sure how I feel about the bomb fuse change. It seems more annoying now. Like it is causing bombs to cause more noticeable lag, and I mean this as someone who never really complains about that. Dark Briar Barrage never really caused me problems before. I always play on low quality and compatibility mode out of habit, so that plays no factor in this. I am currently on wireless, but I also was yesterday so I feel this plays no part either.

And while I haven't been to Lockdown yet, I have a feeling this just took away a lot of the surprise of bombs there.

To me, this doesn't help in PVE, and it seems to potentially help those not using bombs in PVP, the majority :x

[not a suggestion at this time]

not really...

i thought it wasnt exactly a necessary add. And beyond adding more lag in lockdown, i dont see a huge change, besides less people stealth bombing from a corner.

sorry nicoya :3

Have you played a gremlin

Have you played a gremlin arena full of bombers? If you hate it on regular levels, you'll want to kill yourself there.

@Juances I love bombs but I

@Juances I love bombs but I always hate the gremlin bombers lol. I don't run with DBB or Nitronome that often but when I happen to have one, I'm glad to take revenge on them. But what, they added the circles to them too?

I'm easily distracted by some bright red flashing light, and f you are right about causing lag... a player charging a bomb every 3 seconds is not the same than 10 gremlins, each dropping 5 mines, all the time

yeah, I hate them, but at least I'm used to them doing that sorta. I'm just not used to my own bombs being an issue for me. Perhaps I'll get used to this soon as always but I really think this addition may cause more harm than good.

I have not seen them in

I have not seen them in action yet as SK was being dumb for me last time I was on with the Black Screen of Crash, so no opinion on it yet. For those that don't like the last arena rooms with Gremlin bombers you should see what happens when you drop a Shivermist on them. Talk about overkill on their bomb drops, each refreeze counts as a "hit" making them drop a few bombs... how's 5 bombs dropped every half second, per Gremlin, sound?

Oh hah, I was forced to run around the arena with an AoA the last time I did a gremlin arena. Like Shiver, AoA makes them go absolutely [batcrap]. Bombs everywhere, such fun. ;x

As for the bomb changes, I'm pretty neutral on it. I don't do PvP, and there wasn't any difficulty with the old style on my part. The new one can be annoying in that it obscures things on the ground, but haze-styled bombs' mist already does that, so it's not too bad.

Kinda.

I mean, couldn't they at least Change the Color to Spiral Blue? Or to match the Bomb's Colors?

Other than that, no, not really.

Not thrilled. It surprised me the first time I saw it, and it does seem a little laggier.

Looks like bombers got neutered in LD tho. It was nice playing. but I guess with T1 done I might as well cash it in.

@Gwen, Myllakka Pff, newbs.

@Gwen, Myllakka Pff, newbs. Real men with hair on their chests use Voltaic Tempest on the last wave gremlin bombers. Every shock tick makes them drop a pile of bombs, and since the shock is AoE, it makes all the others around them drop theirs too.

Carpet of explosion.

What is this fuse thing? I haven't logged on for the new update, my comp failed and now I have to reinstall SK.

I had my first experience of bombers in the last room of arena. Granted, it was t2 so me n my friends stood around just laughing at the sheer amounts of boom.

More relevant, i actually like the addition of the red circles on those bombers. Now i can actually see where the bombs are, and where im allowed to swing without walking into a ping pong machine.

I'm not in favor of the update as it's gotten slightly a bit laggy. I mean, from the point of view of a swordsman, it's quite helpful against gremlin bombers. But as a bomber myself of a different knight, it doesn't slide to well under helpful. I don't mind OOO's addition, this update just stands on top of the "meh" border.

I'm torn on it tbh, whilst I don't explicitly dislike it I can't say I feel that it's actually added anything. Although given the reports of lag from other people, I think in the long run my initial concerns expressed in the first patch will come to pass and this is just going to draw more distaste from non-bombers when playing with bombers.

Opacity and Clocks

I'd love it if the opacity of the fill was halved. It's difficult to see what's underneath the bomb as it gets bigger, especially when there's a wide area being covered. For instance, someone setting up Shivermist in FSC now obscures the dangers on the floor (more than Shivermist already does, anyway), and the aforementioned gremlin bomber waves obscure the spikes.

If it were me designing the change, I'd have probably made it a "clock" instead: some kind of symbol or effect that rotates around the edge of the shown radius and detonates the bomb once it returns to its starting position, much like the timed explosive blocks already do. This method even has one less object (a single rotating circle image) than the current effect (a circle plus another, expanding circle), which could reduce the lag problems people are having!

yeah... not happy with the change; there wasn't even an option to turn it off; really has put me off spamming as now i reeeeaaallly can't see anything. Horrible and unnecessary addition to the game.

As a pure bomber build, I

As a pure bomber build, I quite like it; gives me a much clearer indicator where my rads will go off in a much quicker, easier cursory glance, so I only need use my peripherals to get a view of what'll happen when placing my next bombs. Also, makes dealing with gremlin bombers worlds easier!

Why not being able to switch the animation to the old one via options to reduce lag? Also remove totally for enemy bombs for everyone?

Ever been in a bomber wave in

Ever been in a bomber wave in arenaroom3, on T2/3? The game just becomes pure lag as the explosions goin' off, and not walkin' into them wasn't just challenging, it was just cheap damage. Being able to see more clearly where they are gives you a fair chance at avoiding it at least.

Didn't make the game any harder or easier, just added made it clearer. If they wanna atcually make it harder, all they have to do is remove the rad-circles completely.

I don't like the change in

I don't like the change in the bomb fuse either. My Shivermist fuse opacity is too white, it makes things hard to see when dropping a whole bunch of shivers with CTR max. It was better the way it was before. If they wanted to change something bomb related, change the Nitronome's explosion graphic, it's too bright!

The change in the bomb fuse really annoys me. I wish you could turn it off in options or something.

Though I still haven't sought

Though I still haven't sought out the gremlin bombers post patch, I'll have to say this new fuse thing would help very little if it is offset by causing more lag because it exists. I don't really think it was that hard to see their circles pre patch though, every time I got hit by one, I knew I was going to get hit because that's just normal for going in close on a gremlin bomber and I was trying to just kill one quickly with a sword and said screw the circles (stun inducing quad bombs are the only exception).

I'd rather not have a toggle option for the old way because that does mean that on someone's screen this still exists, but I'd take that if I had to. I know I'd hate to waste the art team's time saying remove what you just added, but this effect was only ideal in perfect situations. If they simply must change it, I'd take something similar to Arquebus' idea. A timer or clocklike rotation.

Or extend the outer edge of the ring by something like a half of centimeter so it's thick and obvious without taking away the semi hidden nature of bombs. We don't need to make them 100% obvious they are there. What's the point of that? In reality and other mediums, mines are planted places with only slight hints to those who know where they are or what to look for, everyone else is to be caught unawares and blown to bits. of course these aren't suggestions though

The patch isn't the problem here.

I'm still able to run spiral knights with the same framerate on High graphics settings, and I'm running on a crappy laptop.

Not only me, but my friends as well who have better PCs. Honestly I think it's a problem on your end. Blame Java for being a horrible platform anyways, you're probably lagging due to a memory leak, not the graphics. Java is known to be a lame platform what with it's memory leaks and the fact that it just downright sucks in comparison to other platforms, but it's a fairly easy platform to use which is why some people use it.

Lag isn't a factor in the quality of video games. Lag is either caused due to your computer or your connection. But sometimes the lag isn't your fault, sometimes it's the game's fault. Me and my friends can run way better, larger, and heavier games than Spiral Knights, and yet we run other things smoothly and lag on THIS game.

*death to the nonbeliever*

ran into the d12 gremlin bombers, it's more or less the same as before with them at least. Of course when I pulled out my own DBB on them that was a different story..

I've no idea why people are

I've no idea why people are complaining about lag...there's absolutely zero lag increase from the new graphic. The only complain I can understand at all is with bright bombs, such as nitro or shiver, is that an extra layer of translusence blocks of view a lot from spikes and such...but other than that, there's no problems for QQers, and personally, as a pure bomber, I love it.
