Ok, I don't make a thread very often, but this question needs to be answered.

What would do more damage under the effects of a recon pulse, a Voltedge (or any other elemental sword in its class) or a Final Flourish/BTB?

I've tested this many times, especially with the Gran Faust since the absence of normal defense gives it a 40% boost in damage almost. I think this would apply to other dual-type weapons such as the Voltedge, but this needs much more testing.

tl;dr we need to see damage in lockdown

Dumb question, but what does

Dumb question, but what does the recon pulse/death mark actually do?

The death mark basically

The death mark basically removes your armor.

Um?

Unless someone's done extensive controlled testing on damage in lockdown, I'm not sure how you expect this to be answered. Seriously.

IIRC, according to damage numbers on the wiki, the 5* brandishes and the flourish/BTB do equal damage when the monster is neither weak nor resistant to the damage type (on the first two swings only; the brandish does slightly more on the third swing, and the charge attacks aren't directly comparable). That would suggest to me that they have equal "base" damage, and thus they likely do equal damage in PvP when the target has no relevant armor.

But that's just a conjecture, based on the assumptions that "neutral" monsters have zero defense, that death marks literally set your armor to zero (meaning they do nothing for you if the target already had no armor against your damage type), and that there are no inherent differences in damage calculations between clockworks and PvP--none of which have been confirmed empirically, AFAIK.

Why don't you try them out and let us know how it goes?

On a striker using 2 pentas,

On a striker using 2 pentas, it took one full combo of brandish to waste him. I tried testing with a flourish and it took 3 hits of the flourish (first hit cancelled 3 times). Antistone was right, there was little damage difference with 3hit weapons, but with a Gran Faust and DA, the damage increase is extremely noticeable.

brandish line does more

brandish line does more damage per hit than peircing swords, the amount different may not be enouph to equate to aditional hits vs most targets, but its there and noticable on the receiving side.
