Though OOO/Sega havent said anything about it, SK needs this update, this game performance is just Horrible.

I don't see your problem, I play SpiralKnights in textmode. Works like a charm, just start the game with the -Dmudclient="ANSI,VT100,noshaders" parameter.

First, use forum search function. Keyword tweak is a good starter.
Second, if the performance issue is beyond graphic (i.e. you updated your graphic card driver, disabled anti aliasing / rendering effect and graphic setting is set to low), you can try fine tune your Java garbage collector and memory utilization. See this thread.
At last, if you are being lazy, I have setup some performance profiles. Just pick one, copy to your SK directory and experiment.
