I just don't get it ..the status resist ...does it mean it is weak against all status effect orrr...does it MAKE the status effect. I just don't get it?

Correct. Unless you like dying a lot or want a hardmode, that is. Other armours give better offensive bonuses and protect from damage better while not being weak to all elements.

The Chaos set makes it so
The Chaos set makes it so that when monsters attack you with attacks that inflict status effects, you are more likely to wind up with that status, it will last longer, and it will be more intense. Since status effects are a pretty big deal in Spiral Knights and a low damage bonus is really not that big a deal, the Chaos set isn't a great pick.
...Make the status effect? What? Like, apply them to you? That'd suck. It merely weakens you to all effects. They take longer to wear off and are more potent (fire will do more dmg per tick, etc).
At any rate, general wisdom is to never ever ever use chaos set as an armour. It *is* a pretty cool costume though.
