ok guys of which of these two should u pick the divine avenger or brandish line such as the glacius acheron voltedge and combuster coz i think the glacius is good for fire storm citedel but the only bad thing is it doesn't have a knockback so if u freeze a slag walker it can still attack you but when ur using the divine it gives you knockback to give u more a better chance of killing the slag so which one would u want if
divine avenger or brandish line
First of all, Acheron should not be in that mix, because it's a different damage type. It's a competitor to Gran Faust, not to the other Brandishes.
You want to compare DA, Combuster, Voltedge, and Glacius. This is a frequently asked question. For my discussion, see the "Elemental Swords" section of my sword guide.
high damage + long reach + knockback + 3 holoblade projectiles in charge attack = definite YES.
Of course now that zombies have been nerfed so badly, it doesn't matter whether you use a DA or elemental Brandish in FSC.
Remember, the DA might have a higher damage per swing, but the Brandish lines will have a higher DPS. Also, I will agree the the charge on the DA is amazing, but the Brandish charges just got buffed, and now they have quite a bit of knockback.
IMO its charge attack is still better for crowd control, and you can now use the full combo since zombies are permastunned.
Divine Avenger's charge gets easily blocked by gates and walls and wall-like enemies(Tiny Royal Jellys) directly behind you, and sometimes that can be a killer
The brandish has an element of freeze, shock or even fire, which can be devastatingly good. (See large crowd shock spread)
The DA has a great Radius, but the brandish has one that's just as good, doing more damage in a single line.
It's like a Gran faust charge that does more damage, elemental, and no double edge.
Not to also mention: The charge is faster. By the time you do your swords once I can be charging my 2nd one, maybe even be near finishing.
The only thing you can actually debate here is what's better between the basic attacks, and that's just situational. The DA is better for crowds, and the Brandish for single target; however, the Brandish still wins. Why?
Because the brandish has a basic attack that's great for single targets, but a charge that's amazing Aoe. Making it the most versatile.
The DA has a AOE based slash and a AOE based charge. Sure, it's a bit better in AoE damage, but not in a sense to utility, element infliction, and overall speed.
The DA is a 5 star weapon. You can't compare it to a 7 star. (See brandish 3 star shooting 3 blasts, which was the previous 5 star, and therefore the previous 5 star is 3 star. Therefore the 3+2=5 so, compared to the old, 5+2=7. Huehuehuehuehue)
I reckon the brandish line is a better overall elemental sword, but DA is better for FSC simply because of the presence of zombie hordes, and a fair few people in tier 3 do FSC more than anything else anyway
You say it's better because of hordes, but shock spreads. Therefore if you shock one, it'll shock another, which will shock another and so on until entire cluster. Damage? Utility? Safety? Seems better to me.
I'm a longtime fan of, and evangelist for, the Brandishes. But even I use DA in FSC, due to the damage against crowds.
I've never felt let down using my Voltedge in FSC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C3Lz3LHLGE You can skip to about 3:30 where the action starts.
Take the brandish line, da/gf are for the mentally slower than average ones
People say good things about the shock spreading, but how much more damage is that?
And i mean per tick. The spread could cause infinite amount of damage with a big enough horde.
Edit: uuni, i take offense at that... I just wish I could be mad at anyone who picks such a cute picture.
Now that they pretty much nerfed every single enemies, i feel that DA normal attacks can deliver even more easily, in a crowded situation (on single target dps, Brandish is better, no arguing on that).
In FSC notably, now that zombies are so slow and dumb, instead of charging, it's actually faster to just go in and swing a DA (and by swing, i mean doing the full combo without shield cancel). You'll almost always hit at least 2 zombies per hit. And often more, going up to 3 or 4 (3 is very frequent if you take care of positionning, 4 a lot less). Doing that will have a MUCH better clearing rate than charging (wheter you charge a brandish line or DA). And there is no way to it so much zombies at once reliably with a brandish (2 can be done, although not that easy, 3 is very hard because of small hitbox : the positionning as to be very precise).
And you don't need status when your target is dead.
But hey, as in many things in this game, the best is what works for you. Some people prefer the light cowardly 3 swing sword, and some other prefer the awesomness of hitting like a truck with slow 2 swing swords. Just don't push your choice on other (Oops ...)
@Quotefanboy by your argument, DA is 8 star because it shoot 3 blades in addition to the charge swing, right ?
@Demonicsothe
I didn't say what's the starting point and how much slower
But since we are talking about PvE i can tell it's not wrong to use DA/GF in my book :3
A bit of this is guess work based on watching my own Voltaic Tempest go off in a large mob. So it may not be 100% accurate.
Each monster damages all the monsters immediately surrounding it. In a tightly packed group this can add up fast. If one monster spreads it to 4 nearby the original monster will now take 5x the damage in the same time interval so long as they stay together. Based on the damage table in the Wiki, a zombie takes ~90 from fire, but only ~28 from shock. However, if a single monster is shocked by 4 surrounding monsters plus his own status that means he'll take ~140 in the same time interval.
All I know, is that watching fire from my brandish, the numbers don't stream by nearly as fast as they do from a mob hit by the Voltaic Tempest. For individual monsters fire is superior, for groups shock appears to really add up fast.
It should be noted that shock doesn't actually spread to other monsters. The damage ticks are AoE, so each shock spasm will damge nearby monsters, but they won't themselves gain the shock status.
i love my da but i would use the glacius just as much
"Which one would you want if..." If what? And it really depends on the player, their other equipment, and the other players in the party. I personally play with a Voltedge instead of a DA, but it's just up to personal preference.
