Any advice for tier 2?

I'm having some trouble with tier 2, mostly those little demon...things (Don't know what there called, I think it's devitiles or something). I was wondering if anyone has any advice for what equipment to use for which levels (Such as, which armors, which shields, which weapons, etc.) and how I should fight in tier 2.

Some info about myself:

Equipment:

Wolver Coat, Magic Cloak

Wolver Cap, Magic hood (Though I use the wolver set most of the time).

Cutter, Calibur and Snarble Barb (Although I use Cutter mostly for the clockworks.)

Bristling Buckler.

Blaster, Autogun (I don't mainly use the Autogun for fighting, I mostly use it to fool around with friends).

My fighting style is...Eh, I would say a mix of defensive and offensive. When I'm battling close range monsters, I often let them hit me first by hitting my shield, then I turn offensive and try to kill them by spamming the Cutter. When I'm fighting ranged monsters, Gun puppys for example, I often try to dodge the bullets and shoot em with the blaster. When I'm fighting a group of monsters, I sometimes run and gun, depending on how low my health is. If I have high health, I shield myself and then spam the cutter, although I do miss a bit of health.

That's all. Any help would be really appreciated.

Fiends are weak to piercing

Fiends are weak to piercing type attacks, so try out your Snarble Barb, when ever you're in a level with plenty of fiends.

As for the cutter, it really is not a bad sword, it's just that you'll probably have better luck with weapons that deal a special damage type(Shadow, Elemental, Piercing.) since you kill stuff a wee bit faster than with normal damage weapons.

Having some variety in shields could help too. Like an elemental shield for levels with lots of elemental damage or a shadow shield for levels with plenty of shadow damage dealing enemies.

^The "Monster Resistances" section will tell you about what type of damage a particular race will do(Most of the time, at least.), what they're strong against, and what they're weak against. So you might want to check it out, if you haven't already.

+1 to the Snarble Barb,

+1 to the Snarble Barb, better yet upgrade it to 3*. Also +1 for paying attention to damage types and monster resistances.

I highly recommend dropping the Cutter. It is weak, has a very small arc (hits only a narrow area), its combo and charge take waaaay too long (especially for the lack luster damage), and it has poor knockback.

Here compare the combos per minute of the 5* versions (Dread Venom Striker & Wild Hunting Blade) to other 5* weapons. The damage output is terrible and you will get hit a lot.

Don't get me wrong there are people out there that love the Cutter lines and are good with them, but they are a minority.

Other advise is picking up a Skelly line shield for Fiend/Undead maps. I did this when I made the switch to T2 & it made a world of difference. Also, shield canceling is a critical skill for dealing with fiends (works even better in this case when paired with a shadow shield). Ultimately I would recommend having a shield for each damage type (Shadow, Elemental, & Piercing) which is also split Normal. Get a shield to cover what is giving the hardest time first though.

*edit* If you are mostly using swords stick with the wolver set most of the time (especially for JK runs), but you might want to put the Magic set on for running the Roarmulus Twins (or Construct/Gremlin heavy maps).

One more thing. A tip for

One more thing. A tip for taking out gun puppies from a distance with your Blaster. Fire twice then pause & you can fire twice again without reloading. You can fire twice and pause indefinitely with a 3 shot gun. The advantage to this is not so much dps as being able to shield more quickly. If you fire all three shots you will have to wait for the reload animation to finish before you can shield. While if you just fire 2 shots you can shield immediately, then fire 2 more shots and shield again.

Also if you are a swordsman and you find yourself mostly just shooting turrets, you may want to consider an Elemental gun instead. Like one of the Alchemers or the Polaris (use this one carefully). An Elemental gun will be better for Construct and Undead, but neutral for Slime (this covers all the turrets). The drawback is Elemental guns are pretty much worthless vs Beasts and Gremlins.

yeah basically 3 swords of

yeah basically 3 swords of different damage types, a reliable all-around gun and a few armors that could accommodate different strata. here's 2 tips from me:

1. Collect bits and pieces first. Collecting 2-3 sets of armors at one point is too much for anyone, especially for a t2 player like you. Therefore, you could try to mix-and-match and collect one piece of armor that defends against different types of damage. e.g. upgrade your wolver set + magic hood + skelly suit. thus, you can still have considerable defense in any given situation, without overloading yourself with tons of armors waiting to be upgraded

2. Get a more reliable shield if you're not good with dodging. I am just assuming you're relying heavily with your shield since you're a new player. If you break your shield 3-5 times in one depth, then bristling buckler is not for you. This shield has a slightly lower health as it has a med sword bonus, and you may have a hard time in t3 with it. One shield that I recommend is the plate shield line. With the resemblance to a riot shield, plate shields can take A LOT of dmg, and pretty hard to break (but still breakable). Both 5* versions of it, volcanic plate shield and ironmight shield, are both good all-around shields (but not the best). You may want to look into them if you're having the troubles mentioned above.

a tactic

use your shield often. you have no idea how much you will need it down there. also, when your health is low, keep your distance. use the blaster.

Kolmarilya: "Gun puppys for

Kolmarilya: "Gun puppys for example, I often try to dodge the bullets and shoot em with the blaster"

Are you mainly a swordsman? If you are a swordsman I would highly suggest you to get the prismatech alchemer 2* and upgrade it as a side arm unless you can kill IMF (Ironclaw Munitions Factoy / roarmulus twins) then I would highly suggest (over the prisma) to use a pulsar elemental gun (first you buy the normal damage pulsar, then you upgrade it into kilowatt pulsar to have the 3* which begins elemental).

Pulsar elemental guns (ending with Polaris) are the best to use on gun puppies because they explode and can completely cancel the gun puppy attack and shock which can also cancel gun puppy attacks.

Elemental gun is a nice damage type of choice for a single gun because they can deal neutral to polyps and critical damage to all other gun puppies (undead ones and construct ones). Also, elemental is effective if not critical against kitable things where a gun might be desirable to use.

But if you end up liking the prismatech alchemers, it can be amazing on gun puppies at times even more-so that a pulsar/polaris elemental. The charge attack of a prismatech alchemer can be positioned a little bit to the right or left of a gun puppy (still having the big bullet hit it) to make it clip and get hit by the large bullet as well as the little bullet that splits off (at the 5 star version of the gun the charge attack splits off more bullets, making this more effective)
