I was just wondering what the Spiral plate set goes good with and what its down falls and good things about it. so feel free to comment. :D
also I was wondering, is the Wyvern set and shield good armor too? cuz that would really help... Thank You

Both are bad :
- spiral plate have ASI reduction, and no clear upside (only normal too. While it's cool for T1/T2, in T3 you prefer a split normal/special armor).
- wyvern doesn't have normal protection, making it a niche armor. In T3 you expect normal + one special damage for each level, and gear accordingly, or go for a general set that cover everything, but less (in this case, wyvern can be paired with a normal/shadow armor to fit this niche, although Divine Veil + Skolver Coat is considered a superior choice).
I've been running FSC lately with a combo of Volcanic Demo and Ancient Plate (putting heat on the latter), and I have to say that the ASD isn't really all that noticeable. It would probably be a bigger issue if I used slow swords, but for my Voltedge and DTB it really doesn't make a big difference.
As such, I wouldn't have a problem with endorsing a piece of Volcanic Plate as endgame gear. It would pair particularly well with the Divine Veil for FSC.
That said, SK generally rewards offensive capabilities more than defensive, so you might want to weigh that consideration carefully. (for example, people have done Vanaduke in full proto armor and 5* weapons, but nobody to my knowledge has been insane enough to try the reverse)
@Nicoya with that slow ASI can you still attack cancel an attacking wolver with DTB ? If so, I guess it's okay for your setup.
But yeah, if you are using slow swords, ASI : Med at least is highly recommended, because without that attacks from mobs will come before you can do your second hit most of the time (meaning you can't do it), and the recovery after the second hit is just too slow anyway.
@Fradow Yeah, the wolvers in that one room are still no problem. I think the place I notice it the most is when attacking Trolljans: with ASD I can only reliably do one combo, they'll be turned around by the time I try the first hit on a second combo.
the plate shields are good. but the armor....not so much.
"@Nicoya with that slow ASI can you still attack cancel an attacking wolver"
Wolvers attacks do not need to be cancelled - just side step now.
"For a gunner, Nameless is far better than Volcanic Plate
@Bopp - saying nameless is far better for gunners is being risky. I'll also say that Nameless is better, but only in certain situations: Volcanic plate can prove better - far better. The only reason volcanic plate would be bad is if you double up on it and use blitz charge without an ASI trink to cover it.
Here is why Volc. Plate is a good option for gunners:
1. ASI is not a big deal for us - help or hurt its all about damage bonus
2. We have no fire (or stun, which is also a part of FSC) resistance with Nameless
On top of those two, you add the fact that it is low ASI per piece not medium and that it has great normal.
If you were to get this as a gunner for FSC, you should do something like Nameless hat / volcanic plate mail or the other way around
I would definately say that one nameless and one volcanic plate is much better than two nameless in FSC for gunners.
Thanks, The-Rawrcake. I shouldn't have been so hasty in posting. I definitely like fire protection in FSC. :)
No I dont have nothing but Wyvren, no, actually I have Wyvern Scale Helm, Wyvren Scale Shield, Salamander Suit, and a also have a Avenger and a Piercing type gun. So that too me sounds good but the Wyvren Scale Shield..... I don't if a other shield would be good. So feel free to comment.
Thank You.
The wyvern isn't all that great, tbh. Most creatures will do normal and one specialized type of damage, but the Wyvern pairs piercing defence with elemental, a combination that isn't seen all that much really. In FSC, you'll be seeing a lot more Trojans and Slag Walkers than you will Oilers, and beasts (which also do piercing, and which wyvern has a bonus against) don't make an appearance at all. The fire resistance isn't worth the tradeoff. In FSC, a Divine Veil would work better for you than a Wyvern Scale Helm, as it has bonus versus fiends (the matching body armour lacks the bonus for some reason) as well as good defence versus shock, fire and curse debuffs, and elemental and shadow resistance. Most things in FSC still do a great deal of normal type damage, so pair it up with something that resists normal and slap on some extra elemental or shadow resistance as desired.
For FSC you're going to want a shield with stun and fire resistance, or attacks that stun (Trojans and Vanaduke) are going to break through it pretty fast. It's going to need pretty high normal resistance, so Wyvern Scale Shield is not a great idea. With high enough health to your shield, the lack of shadow or elemental resistance isn't so crippling (if it still has fire and stun). The most common choices are Volcanic Plate (which has a whole load of health, stun and fire resistance, so the absence of elemental resistance isn't as important since it can take a heavy beating) and Grey Owlite (which has somewhat less health, but elemental resistance on top of normal, shock and fire, and may want a vs. stun UV on it for preference). The last commonly used option is the Crest of Almire, but this has the major drawback of the previous shield in the crafting line being a reward for defeating Vanaduke.
The expert players, whose advice you seek, think entirely in terms of 5-star items, because that's where everything ends up (unless they're planning a loadout for Tier1-2 PvP). The 5-star versions of Spiral Plate Mail are Ironmight Plate Mail and Volcanic Plate Mail. The protections on these things are fine --- not awesome, but not terrible. The problem is that they decrease your attack speed a bit.
Other armors actually *help* your offense. For a swordsman, Vog Cub is far better than Volcanic Plate, and Skolver is far better than Ironmight Plate. For a gunner, Nameless is far better than Volcanic Plate, and Justifier is far better than Ironmight Plate. For a bomber, Volcanic Demo is far better than Volcanic Plate. (There is no bomber piercing armor.)
