Royal Jelly tips?
So I've been trying to run jelly king with a friend of mine and we have 3* equip and I had a vile striker, and we were just getting wrecked. I've seen on the boards that it's possible to do it with 2 people and mostly 3* equip so I was wondering what I was doing wrong; at this point, I'm nearly upgraded all to 4* equipment (sans ash tail cap, that's all I'm missing) - am I just supposed to rush royal jelly and hack away at him, only pausing to heal or revive myself? I guess when he "spins" I can shield but there seems to be little other strategy than run up - throw vials, hack away - from the videos I've been watching.
Also I've got a gripe about the video showing 5* equipment - practically, what gear tier should I be at and with how many people until royal jelly is feasible to farm? If Royal Jelly is a tier 2 boss, it wouldn't make sense to need to have 4* equip just to survive, yet I am getting wrecked against him.
What's the most desirable setup against Royal Jelly? What are other tips?
Thanks!
Chroma Mask and Suit, Cautery Sword or Vile Striker, Poison and Stun Vials, stay to the left of him.
Royal Jelly is terribly easy to beat now, I beat it with a crew sporting nothing but jelly armor and 2 star weapons save one of them had a vile striker and myself it was sad, I really dont know what the Devs where thinking.
Few general tips :
-Get your poison & curse vials.Fire & Stun can help out as well.
-Dont bother reviving while hes spinning
- Never fight Little jellies, use your shield to blow them away.
-Get a person with Vile Striker and/or Faust(with a remedy)
-Never throw vials unless you're in direct contact with the Jelly King
-Try to have as little intervals of not hitting him as possible.
With 2 players?
Piercing armor, shields with lots o health, and a Vile Striker with a Faust combo
Thatd be the best option
Armor-Jellies do Piercing(I think, lol, dont trust me 100% on this)
Shield-Need to be able to block King's attacks
Weapons-Sword poisons while Faust brings him around town to whup his measly little @$$
Jellies don't do piercing damage. Only lichen colonies.
Poison and Curse, lots and lots of Poison and Curse and he'll drop really quickly. Fire and Shock help too. Also, don't go ANYWHERE near him when he starts to go nuts. It's entirely doable if you group has all 2* gear if you know what you're doing.
Since I just completed a jelly run, i can safely say the others are right.
But I'd go with Fire/Curse vials instead of Posion/Curse vials, mainly because fire can spread to his oh-so-annoying minis and possibly kill them. If you don't have this option, repel the minis with your shield.
Also, if you have bombs, place them in the king's spawning area before you press the button.
I was able to solo him with 4* gear (Salamander set, Vile Striker, and Faust)
The key is to bring 3 curse vials, 3 poison vials, and 3 health capsules (you can use fire or shock for the fourth slot if you want) You save the curse for when he starts rampaging as he will do damage to himself for each burst he does. You use the poison right off the bat to stop him from healing and to make you do more damage while he does less. Then you go to town on him with the vile striker (keeps him poisoned) while you focus your shielding to counter his attacks. Try to use the poison vials when you are close to him so they will splash on the the other jellies around you. When you get low, back off, use a capsule (best to do when he is raging anyways) then go right back in.
I was able to do it with only one death (totally worth the 5 energy it cost me) but if I was more careful I could have done it without dying at all.
The reason he is soloable or, able to be done with as little as two people is because enemy health scales with how many people are in your party. So two people with decent gear can pull it off because the damage they do outpaces the increase in his health for there being two people.
Just make sure he is always poisoned, and curse him during the rages. Ignore the little jellies and just focus on doing damage to him and he'll drop.
The key is not to overcomplicate things. Sure with a perfect vial rotation and game plan you will beat him, but what are you going to do when someone messes up? Make it as simple as possible. Everyone should have 3 health pots, and one person should have 3 poisons. The poison person just keep him poisoned while everyone else just spam click on him. Don't worry about minions, don't worry about spinning attack, don't worry about anything. Just keep clicking and the jelly king dies within 3 poisons. The Jelly king isn't something you have to try on. Spam click is the easiest way to kill him and it kills him without anybody dying.
Thanks for the advice guys! Last night I took him on with 2 friends - I am decked out in all 4* equip (Vile Striker, Shadow driver, Ash Tail Coat, Wise Owlite shield) except for my hat (Dusker cap). My friends were similarly equipped (1 with VS, 1 with Striker, both had 3* bombs). I took all of your advice, I'll also give some for any who are looking for additional tips or strategies;
At the beginning of the game, we set up a bomb with the biggest blast radius at the top blocks and the person ran back and we started the fight. The bomb immediately exploded, granting us access to RJ. I ran up, threw a poison vial at him, and kept hitting until he'd attack back. Meanwhile, my other friend with the bomb would run around and plant bombs to try and push the aggro away from the two that kept hitting him with VS. I cursed him when he started to rampage/spin and ran out of the way until he'd settle down a bit. I find bombs are very helpful for pushing away the smaller jellies, even if they aren't good to actually damage him with. I'm confident we could take him with 2 people only at this stage too - only one of us used a revive (he's wearing all 3* gear and was the bomber, and it was only 5CE). He dropped 5 jelly tokens, which was nice.
Time to rinse and repeat!
You really don't have to go to town on him as hard as everyone says to; probably less so now after he's gotten nerfed. If you're doing it with two and one of you has bombs just have that person run around bombing all the adds and getting them away from the other person. You can also still shield and block the Royal's attacks whenever he does them, just like a regular jelly. Without a dedicated controller, it helps to try to get all the little slimes on one side of the Royal Jelly and try to be on the other side so most of them aren't surrounding and murdering you. The cutter series is really nice in that you can also use the attacks to get out of a swarm of enemies when trapped.
