Should enemies deal full special damage?

We know many monster attacks deal a portion of "'normal' damage even in T3
Some people believe the game is becoming too easy.
The problem is normal defense will go from really important to uselless.
My solution: normal damage should protect against every damage type, but with 1/3 of effectiveness compared to specialized armor.
This is not a suggestion yet, this is a question to all players. (and it'll get more attention here anyways :p)

When I first started playing this game, I always thought Normal Defense was a universal defense. I assumed that it generally reduced damage but it was no where near as effective at reducing damage as the specialized defenses did.

Normal wouldn't be completely useless in T3 as there would still be
-Most Gremlins
-Trojans
-Slags
-Blast cubes
-Lichen
-Scuttlebots
-Retrode's melee
-Demo Mecha-Knights
Not the most stellar list, but still better than what Pierce had to begin with.
As far as changing the way Normal defense would work, it's not a bad idea, just not sure it would be really needed with this change

At the moment we're not sure exactly how much normal damage these enemies do. It's possible that the normal component of most enemy attacks is almost completely nullified by all standard armor (and one test indicates that this is the case). It's possible that some enemies deal more normal damage than others, percentage-wise (one test indicates that rocket puppies seem to do more normal than elemental).
There's a lot of testing to be done still, but I am strongly opposed to getting rid of normal since I think it's a very important part of damage.
anc plate with medium normal UV alone fills the complete bar, so its worth more than 2 pieces of armor.
2x anc plate = 4/3 x pierce/shadow/elemental = 130% as strong as pierce/shadow/elemental armor sets would be
1/3 may be too much due to the ancient plate set's existence

I thought bars weren't exactly accurate.

This applies for weapons, more than it does for armour. Regardless, Ancient Plate armour is extremely powerful, making any pure Normal attack but tickle you. I believe T3 Gremlins do 1¾ or 1½ pip of damage when you equip the full set. This being T3 isn't much compared to the damage you would take otherwise and adding UVs I believe they'd do even less.
But if Normal damage is to be changed, how would we deal with the mobs that deal Normal damage? Would they alter or still deal the old Normal damage?
It'd definitely make having an Anciet Plate set seem more viable...
