What was the old Brandish charge like?

As you all know in a recent patch they had made the charge more reliable yada yada and if you have a 3*Brandish it does 3 explosions, 4* does 4, and 5* does 5.

So I was playing with my friend the other night (he hasn't played in a month or so) and we were talking about the update to the line. That's when we had a little disagreement. You see both of us have a 4* in the line (he:blazebrand, me:blizzbrand & silent nightblade). The disagreement was over what the blast use to be like.

Now I remember playing a game with my friend at like Bazil when we were waiting for people or waiting for arena. What we would do is charge and then let go whoever had the highest would pay 5cr to the other. I am pretty sure I remember that the 4* had an option of 0-3 blasts. On the other hand he says it was 0-2, which I am pretty sure it wasn't but he has gotten me to second guess myself.

So basically what I am asking is before the patch was sent out what was the charge attack like for the brandish line.

The five star versions could do up to 3 but the four stars capped at 2.

And the 3 star versions

And the 3 star versions capped at 1. Also, the probabilities were annoying -- a lot of the time the 3 star version would give no blast at all, so it was hard to use it reliably.

Frankly, the change is welcomed greatly by myself.

Check out some of Nicoya's

Check out some of Nicoya's FSC vids. He use his Voltedge charge a few times.
Basically, here is how it was. (I'll use Voltedge line as an example):
Brandish (2*)- chance of 1 explosion, size of expanded pulsar shot (2*)
Shockburst Brandish (3*)- Chance of 1 explosion size of expanded pulsar shot (2*)
Boltbrand (4*)- Chance of 2 explosions, very high chance of 1 explosion size of expanded pulsar [crap] (2*)
Voltedge (5*)- Chance of 3 explosions, very high chance of 2 explosions size of expanded pulsar shot (2*)

The Devs basically reduced the brandish line damage by 10%, but made each line do their star number of explosions consistently on the charge.

An yes, the 2* brandish did do 1 explosion pre patch. But as Xylka said, it was rare. The explosion was white.

Now it does 2 white explosions though the animation shows 3 for some reason.

The Brandish weapons never really had a "chance" of doing varying explosions. It was broken and would not, for some people, produce the proper amount. I'm sure someone else has explained the differences otherwise.

I, being a Glacius owner extensively pre-patch, am going to say that there was no distinct probability of explosions on the Brandish swords, but rather the explosion mechanics had to do with the space you were fighting in, the obstacles in the way, etc. Also, the explosions would derp occasionally and just not appear.
These compounded events caused the unreliability of Brandish line swords' explosions. After the patch, the explosions will still not go to the full number if there are obstructions, etc.

I didn't notice a damage change on the swings though...Are you sure you didn't just take off a piece of Wolver gear, Slayzz?

The mechanisms for the prepatch explosions are really vague and unpredictable... At times I could have pulled off 3+ sets of 3 explosions in a row, and at other times, no 3 explosions for a looooong time.

Btw to anwser the OP, the old charge attacks (5*) are identical to the current 4* charges, only with a maximum of 3 explosions.

Glacius, Combuster, Voltedge, Acheron, all prepatch.

All four of mine only did one explosion.
I have had numerous comparisons with other players and they have all confirmed it is not a graphical glitch on my end.
Clockwork Terminals, Training Hall, we have tried with maximum space, no obstruction whatsoever, wherever *MY* Level 10 5-star Brandish did one explosion, everyone else's would regularly do two and occasionally three, and one guy's Brandish never ever did less than three explosions.
There were also the odd guys who had one sword that performed differently than the others.

And just to confirm, the explosions were not invisible either, as there was no damage done beyond the first one.
