Can someone explain to me what's going on with the silver pendants? Is the wiki correct in it's point value for curse resistance of the silver line of pendants? Also, does anyone know how many points of curse resist the 5* one is? Thanks.
Silver Pendant line
ah cool. l keep hearing status trinkets r useless and don't do anything.
They are almost useless if used alone. The bonus they give is pretty small to do anything significative on it's own.
Is that 1 trinket enough for me to only get 1 weapon locked? i.e. 4 points of resistance.
One trinket gives like 2 points of resistance so no, unless you use 2 or an UV on armor.
which trinket gives 2 points? there are 4 or 5 of them.
I am pretty sure 2 5* silver pendants will give the same resistance as a divine veil piece. One 5* trinkets I heard gives a medium resistance boost (2 points), and the resistances on armor give a Very High boost (4 points.)
Low- 1
Medium- 2
High - 3
Very High- 4
Ultra- 5
Maximum- 6
Resistances for armor have no cap so far, but weapons do have a cap.
Waiiittt. If one 5* trinket gives 2 points, what do 1-4 * give?
Well I want to get a gran faust but I want 4 points of curse resistance so I can only get 1 weapon locked since I usually roll with 4. However, I want to know what combination is best.
It's beter to get curse resistant armor or some UVs.
You'd need both slots to be resistant, btu there are better trinkets to put there. Is curse really important for you?
Gran Faust takes forever to charge too, compared to most swords thats another problem.
How many points of curse resistance are each of the silver pendants? I'm talking about every starred curse resist pendant.
"How many points of curse resistance are each of the silver pendants? I'm talking about every starred curse resist pendant."
I don't know, but my recommendation: Don't get any status trinkets below 5-star. Even the 5-star ones are fairly weak, and I can't imagine wasting a trinket slot on anything weaker than that. In other words, trinket slots are precious; each one should be used to its utmost.
Is it possible that 1 star is like .5 curse resist and it scales by .5 all the way up?
I've heard that no matter how much curse resistance you have, it only affects the duration and not how many weapons are affected....
Incorrect. 4 points of curse resist make it so that only 1 weapon gets locked. Check the wiki.
Self-infliction will never be affected by resistance; the rate at which you get fire/cursed is entirely down to the weapon, and utterly ignores your resistance. Your resistance affects the status itself *once you receive it*. It's like when an enemy afflicts you with something; your resistance won't prevent you getting it, just lessen the effects.
Status trinkets do get used, they're considered "useless" for two reasons:
a/ On their own, they're generally not nearly high enough to do enough to merit having them. You'd typically need to have armour/UVs with the resistances as well to clock it up, but after a certain point that tends to make the trinket a redundant bonus
b/ Other PvP trinkets tend to outshine them outright, since the game is generally more offence based, encouraging you to take the "kill them faster" trinkets over the survival ones.
However, that's not to say they're not worth it. It entirely depends on your gear. If your preferred gear has no curse resistance and you spam GF a lot, then two trinkets will do more good than harm. Slap a curse UV on with that and you're golden.
However if you're using specific curse resistance armour, then the comparitive won't make the trinkets high enough value; that is to say, that not wearing them and wearing them won't make enough difference anymore, since the bulk of your resistance will come from your armour.
Even then, you might prefer the extra resistance over krogmo trinkets.
Or simply not be able to afford krogmo's. It's situational/personal preference, really.
Well, I can verify that the picture on the wiki matches the picture on an actual trinket. Somewhere I read a rule of thumb, that a 5-star status trinket protects half as much as a status protection on a typical armor. (I'm not sure that I'm recalling that correctly, and I have not verified whether it's true or not, and I'm not exactly sure what it means.)
What you really want to know is how much such a trinket would reduce your chances of curse, or reduce the duration. My friend just ran some cursory tests with his Gran Faust in the ATH. Each test was run twice, with the same results.
* no curse resistance: 43 seconds
* one Saintly Silver Amulet: 37 seconds
* one piece of anti-curse armor (e.g. Divine): 33 seconds
* two pieces of anti-curse armor: 25 seconds
Increased curse resistance did not seem to make the GF curse less frequently; it just cursed for shorter durations.
Edit: Also, read the wiki article on Curse, if you haven't already.
