As of late, I've seen several people using zone chat to send messages regarding things like selling steam games, items from other games they've got on steam, so-on-and-so-forth. Is this allowed? Should I complain about people doing this? To say the least, when I enter an instance of Haven, I'm not exactly thrilled to see people trying to buy or sell stuff from other games in order to get their CE fix, so I guess I'm inquiring more as to what the proper protocol is for dealing with people trying to pawn off their whatever. /mute is a wonderful feature, and I make good use of it, but I can't help but feel as though I shouldn't have to in this case.
Cheers,
Viv

What has been discussed
What has been discussed lately, is whether trade messages in zone chat counts as spam or not, and it seems like they do. You could kindly tell the ones spamming zone to stop and if they do not, either switch havens or report them (depending on how stubborn you are :P).
SK is a game that runs on Steam as well now, and participates in Steam Trading, allowing you to trade in-game items, crowns and CE across Steam for other ingame Items from Portal or TF2, or just other "Steam" items, such as coupons and game vouchers.
This is a completely legitimate action, as it's done through proper Steam Trading; there can't be any scams, so there's no issue with players losing out.
No need to worry; if you don't want to get involved in Steam trading, you don't have to :)
