I was just wondering if I have say a cobalt helm which I have worn and upgrade it to a solid cobalt helm, can I then trade it or sell it on or is it mine from then on in and I cant sell it on?

That sucks, it means I cant make high level armour and pass it on to my other half.
Once you have worn an item it becomes bound.
If you craft a bound item, the newly crafted item will automatically become bound; therefore your newly crafted solid cobalt will be bound to you, and unbinding it will not be worth w/e it is you'd sell it for.
This does mean that if you craft an *unbound* item, the newly crafted gear will be unbound too, and you can sell it this way; this is generally a good way to make money, by selling 2/3* gear that you craft to higher level players who just want to buy the parts rather tan craft.
