So I see the prices of buying/selling 100 CE going higher and higher. This is most likely due to the difficulty or getting certain items, whether it be accessories, keys, or a really good piece of gear. Truthfully, I think it's leading more people to spend real money, which is what was probably originally aimed at. What do you think of the energy market?
*Note: I am new to the forums, and I didn't see this type topic from when I looked
Market in the Game
First off run for the hills man these forums are the DEVIL the only nice part about the forums is Eury.
Many topics like these have been made before which leads to just well arguments and people getting hurt in their rears.
Personally my view of the market is this:
Its pretty easy to understand:
Crowns --- Resource which can be re-made, re-produced, and well its a pretty common resource (So the value of crowns isn't as high as expected).
Ce (Crystal Energy) -- Is the oil in our economy the total amount of oil by 100's (or barrels) is not a certain number, but we know its limited in the sense, and given that this oil runs most knights to (do runs, craft items, and bribe other knights) its very valuable resource.
With that said:
The market in my view is run by supply and demand. If the demand is high for crowns (Featured auctions etc.) the price of Ce can easily fall since more players don't need Ce anymore they rather have crowns, but if the economy is just at its mid-point (equilibrium) we won't see many changes (Might see a 100 to 300 crown change in price due to time zones). I do think players are spending real money on this game, but that really won't change the market so much unless someone goes out and buys 800 dollars worth of Ce sells it for 3k Crowns each the market will crash for less than 2 hours, but then go back to regular state (I know this because I did do this in beta its a smaller population, but the results would be similar).
Personal View on the energy market:
Its a great idea Three Rings developed I am told they have the similar market in Puzzle Pirates, and its great since it is honestly PLAYER RUN ECONOMY. We don't have a big brother telling us wait Ce is worth x amount or you should get x for x. If you want to you can sell your Ce below the market price or 50x's the market price its all up to you. For Free 2 Play players they are not given the worse game either all they have to do is work a bit harder in Spiral Knights to obtain a full 5* armor set along with weapons which means it may take you a month to two months to get as far as a paying customer, but both paying and non-paying are given the same opportunities, so far in Spiral Knights.
I'm not complaining about the market. I understand the player run economy of the game, and I like it. What I'm wondering is why recently (the past week) the market going higher? I know that demands for certain things change the market, but why now, and when would it be likely to change then...
It goes back to my point in if players don't have any need for Crowns they don't have a need to buy them thus the lower supply of ce in the market resulting in the prices going up. Until a new update that demands some sort of crowns the prices will stabilize unless the featured auctions end up having something ubber snazzy.
From what I've seen, the price of CE always goes steadily upwards (if a graph was made it would have many drops in-between, but the main direction would be the same). Then something happens that has an impact on the economy (ie steam, rose regalia etc) and it goes down drastically. Over the course of time it just cycles in the same way over and over. Although I would have expected it to not rise as much as it has lately, seeing that there have been so many featured auctions where massive amounts of crowns are spent.
My 2 cents.
If I sell ce I always sell it for 3k-3.8k
7k per 100 isn't unprecedented. So it's still got a ways to climb.
The reason prices are high now is because there is no promo going on. People aren't buying ce from OOO all that much and the well is running dry. During promos everyone is taking advantage of them and the market is flooded w/ ce, so we get low prices.
If you'd like to know when prices will dip again, wait for a few days into the Chinese New Year promotion. I expect it to happen around the 23rd, the date of the new year.
They go up. It's what they do. As you play longer and amass more wealth it becomes obvious why it happens, but even then it still sucks.
@guy in shiny armor: i lol'd when u said 'reason it's so high now', when really it's so low now. Yet, we adjust so quick that it does in fact feel high now lol. Go figure.
@OP just be glad for the featured AH. Without it, ce prices would be 7.5k-ish at least. OOO uses featured AH as a way to keep it lower. Unfortunately, it is slowly losing it's effect as saturation continues.
High relatively. During the winter pack, it was, what 5.5k per 100? Now it's 6.5k?
Also, re-read. I said prices are high now, which they are relative to the short term low we had. We're going up to the peak. A trough is expected to arrive at the next deal though, if trends continue (and they probably will).
I didn't think I had to specify.
Prices always go up. No matter what the price is set at, there will always be both someone who wants more for it, and someone who is willing to pay more, so the price takes a step up. This process repeats ad infinitum.
However (as discussed on another thread, I think it's the economy one in Suggestions), since runs cost CE as well, the market will never allow itself to reach the same value as the regular crown farming levels (JK is the best, and most frequently farmed lair for crowns), otherwise no one would ever buy CE, since it would cost their entire profit margin or more, making it pointless.
That being the threshold, it will always remain below that, until a better paying, and equally common floor comes out.
Currently, JK pays 8~9k on average, so CE usually never goes beyond around 7~7,5k at highest. Whenever it reaches this, it simply crashes and starts again. It's happened several times already in SKs lifespan, it won't stop now.
And aye, what Guy said is also a factor to consider; promos that make CE cheap for P2Ps make it cheap ingame too, and there currently are no promos, so the market is doing its own thing: rise till the threshold.
The other things are evil manipulants who put on stop buy offers of 800x100CE just to block CE price at this lvl and dont let it go down. When their offer is started to being filled, they cancel it. If their offer is flushed down by higher buy offers its cancelled and posted again at higher price.
i remember the awesome time, right after the steam release when TONS of players flooded in and bought CE......3.5k crs for 100 ^_^
so yes, u giuse are right about events direct relationship with the prices :)
I don't think there has ever been a topic like this before.
CE prices going up you say?
Please discuss.
