I made a fanfic about a game
I made a fanfic about a game once to participate in a story contest. I didn't win but most people liked it. One of them even said I should have won (\o/). So, if you're going to make a fanfic about SK, I think you should first collect as much information on the game's backstory:
How the knights' ship crashed, how they found Haven, what they're looking for in the clockworks etc
Try to write a prologue to the ship's crash landing or what they had to face before reaching Haven's safety.

There's almost no canon to work with in this game. We don't even actually know WHAT we are, much less why we're doing what we're doing here. I've come up with a couple screwball ideas, but until there's the skeleton of a history, present, and hints at a future, a novel would be so much conjecture that it'd be SK in name only.

You're right that we don't know what we are though lol. Not sure if we're machines or sentient beings or what. :P
There's also little to no history as to what happened prior to the Crash-landing... ._.
Maybe the missions system will shed more light on this?

Not only is there almost no canon to work with (as mentioned by Tengu), this game's graphics are simply too cute and cartoony to be taken seriously.

try the Treasure Vault on the forums
there are tons of fan-fics there and they're pretty good most of the time
Dude that would be a nice idea but i dont think its gonna happen (not trying to be harsh) but why not write your own tales about u and your friends? I have (Not a good writer and rly, im workin on it) done a few but they are kinda short, plus i need to work on it. But yeah why dont you write a fanfic based on your victories and defeats, it would be an intresting piece to read! (I would read it)
