Pretty sure they don't do runs on the GM account, since they're on the clock when using it. You don't do fun runs when someone is paying you to do a job. Only way you'd play with one is on a normal account, in which case they'd never tell you they're a GM or risk getting fired.

They're professional. Gotta be to uphold OOO standards since they're on the job. They come in, fix whatever went wrong, then leave to the next support ticket.

Had one fix a broken switch gate in a fiend level once, and another arrive to give us our jelly tokens when we killed the JK and then nothing happened. No giant token thing, no anything. Poof, dead, trapped in the arena since the gate didn't go down either. Was rather funny. Haven't had anything happen since, which is for the better. Means the game is working correctly.

Oh, yes, and all GMs are disciples of Gordon Freeman, for they all carry around crowbars.

What was it like?

I've met several. How they act is dependent on their personalities.

FSC run 1
On one of my first FSC runs, Vana glitched up in the last phase. A GM appeared (he was diligent enough to read the bug reports, we didn't even know how to call in-game assistance!) and teleported us to a new instance. Then dropped health pills instead of vitapods since Vita's are a pain to make. Screenshot here.

He then whipped out a crowbar and hit Vanaduke a few times, each time instantly making him go to his next phase. The speed at which they move is ridiculous, he could retrieve water in under 2 seconds. Curiously enough he got damaged for 2.5 hearts at some point, maybe the mask fire blast. He then left us so we could fight him ourselves.

This was during a time where if you didn't destroy (and simply ignored) the first slag walker zombies Vana summoned, he would never summon slag guards. Our GM destroyed those while waiting for Vana to switch phases (fair enough), so we had to deal with guards in a time when nobody in the group had experience with them. Eventually we managed to destroy a guard and chose to ignore the other over having two run around. The GM reappeared and one-shot it before disappearing again. I assume he was checking if we had made it (they need to know if they should mail you Almirian seals). It was however a big "WHAT" moment, in an already tough battle.

Little later we mange to kill one again, after which I shiver-locked both Vana and the other guard while my teammates were regrouping/extinguishing fire. The GM appeared again and destroyed the second guard once more, making two fresh ones spawn immediately. Things turned so chaotic that when we finally beat him we had 9 pills left on the floor. Yes, my first encounter with slag guards, even though we had no Vita's, we went through 30+ pills. After the fight I very politely asked him if next time he could not kill things I had shiverlocked and thanked him for his help. He was a great sport about it and we had the seals mailed to us after we won.

FSC run 2
Same situation, other GM and our team had more experience. This GM asked us to drop everything on the ground so he could see what he should respawn. It took a few minutes (apparently Vita creation IS difficult) but he replicated our exact item loadout (plus a few remedies) and let us attempt Vana. Everything went smoothly, seals were mailed after the fight after we PM'ed the GM to let him know we were finished (he asked us to).

Fountainstuck 1
In another FSC run we ran out of sprites and the fountain didn't pop water. So after waiting a GM showed up, a real silent one. Without typing a word or being asked, he broke the treasure boxes, noted their contents, spawned all of it outside the fire and then teleported us at the other side of the fire that was stopping us from going on. He asked us to report the bug, even though the devs know about it, it helps them regardless. He said goodbye and went on his way again.

Fountainstuck 2
Same situation, this time we got a GM with a more feminine sounding name (Atalanta something?). She first tried to drop another sprite (we had missed the 8th, 7 were in the fountain). It still didn't work, so she broke the treasure boxes, asked us if we needed the vials (we didn't) and teleported us over the fire.

Fountainstuck 3
The only thing I can remember about this encounter is that he spawned around 40 mecha-knights for fun. Probably T1's, since they couldn't kill a slag walker for the life of them. Fun times...

We also found an idling GM in haven, he got a lot of attention as people crowded around him but stayed idle for almost an hour before leaving (aparently, I was gone after 5 minutes).

They're all very nice and polite individuals and even though they're only human, they're open to criticism.

Thus far I've met Helios,

Thus far I've met Helios, Atropos and Hyperion. Helios was fun, he showed up after Jeramey herded a bunch of snipes into the Haven garden (we made him ragequit and then herded the last one ourselves because we felt a little bad) and pet the snipes. And we met Atropos the same day when a friend of ours managed to crash his client at D28 of FSC, right as we got off the elevator and couldn't rejoin. So we waited about 15 minutes for them to bring him to Vanaduke. Really would've been fun if Atropos could've joined in the Vanaduke fight BUT I won't complain. ;D

Hyperion I just saw standing around randomly, so I don't know what he's like.

They actually do join in on

They actually do join in on runs sometimes, depending on the issue perhaps. I've had one (Oceanus I think) stick around for a while to see if things were going okay. Then he hit a few things with a crowbar, one-shotting them, which was pretty funny.

They've been rather helpful in the situations we needed assistance, though. Far better than assistance than on most other game I've played, honestly.

Silphius pretty much covered

Silphius pretty much covered it. I only met them really in the times Vanaduke bugged and we had to restart, but I have met one once when trying to record all of those exclusive GM Armors and Helms for the wiki. Unfortunately, school started so now im on a schedule, and any time I do have is either occupied by something else or playing the actual game.

They're quite nice and quick to reply. If only they would tell us their alt accounts T~T

then again, they'd get mobbed by everyone if we found out.

Oh and if you're wondering,

Oh and if you're wondering, the crow bar is called Banstick, and it has over 9000 damage. XD

But really, once a GM used the charge for fun at Basil before getting us through FSC after a glitch. It did the same animation as the Leviathan Charge and did massive damage to my teammates nearby (they were tossed against the wall XD) IDK if it was another bug or it was meant to do that.

good times :)

Actually, I have an interesting story..

So a while back when Shadow Lairs were still in the testing server, I met GM Oceanus with my friends just before the server shut down. We offered him a run, and surprisingly, he said yes. As we went down to the shadow lair, Oceanus teleported us to the boss stage, (Snarby). For testing purposes, he was wearing testing armor, along with weapons. We all died at least once, so I figured that most GM's are as good at SK as any of us. After we finished Snarby, he offered us an Ice Queen run, and of course, we all said yes. He teleported us to the Ice Queen and after a toilsome battle, the server shut down :D. My friends and I were disappointed, but the good part was that we got to brag to our guildies on the live server ^-^ Meeting Oceanus was a really awesome experience and it's one I probably won't have again.

tl;dr? Well I went on a run with GM Oceanus and it was awesome :p

Only once

I've only met one GM and that was with the only bug i've encountered so far playing this game. GM Atalanta.
They were very useful and fixed the bug i encountered. I also got complemented for doing my run in proto.
And if you search the bug section of the forums you can find a short video of the bug i found before meeting the GM.
I also leave you with this http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/614972449710362632/21BB3A7735108920469...

Hyperion was asleep, having

Hyperion was asleep, having been kicked outta a party for being AFK for too long. He was resting at the front of the Town Square, where he was surrounded by a giant pile of knights. He eventually woke up, probably in surprise, and began to speak.

I accused him of pulling a ploy to destroy us all, but he responded that he is completely harmless(not that I believe that, can you SEE what those crowbars can do?!). He later no-clipped past the fence, leaving many to chase after him in a fruitless attempt to reach him.

Then he gave us all fried chicken!

No matter how much I love SK, I don't think I can do 8 hours of troubleshooting and then go and then go pwn Vana a coupe of times. I'd be running as fast as I can to other places, 'cause I get easily bored like that.

I wonder how good the GMs are, though. I'd think that they get too used to being invincible, and then get 1hko'd. ;)

While not exactly a GM, a dev. (Boswick) apparently showed up in pvp and killed one of my guildmates a lot. (I wasn't there so it might have been another dev.).

It was on the test server. We did a GM Rain Dance in hopes that one would appear. (A traditional 'GM Rain Dance' involves every single player running headfirst into the fountain wall.) We ran, and ran, and kept running - until only a couple minutes remained.

And then, just as the server was about to shut down...

In slow-motion, with trumpets playing and spotlights raining from the sky, GM Cronus arose from the waters. ...And then the server shut down. ; )

Eh

GMs/Devs when being GMs just do their job with the occasional comment.
During preview they were more fun.
Playing with "undercover GMs" is just like playing with anyone else.
I remember I played for a bit with Ian during preview without realizing and he was suspiciously quiet.

I've had one real encounter

I've had one real encounter with a GM, and that was Coriolis. Story behind this encounter was a rather unfortunate event that befell me. We had just run through Tier 2 and the fifth Stratum, collecting items for our Shadow Lairs run. I whipped out my Shadow Key, unlocked the lift, and we all went on. Then my client crashed. In an unfortunate event where my client crashes as I decend an elevator, my character does not show up on the next floor but my icon remains as if nothing had happened. I attempt to reconnect and I get parked at the login menu - the button is pressed, and I'm just waiting to log in; except it doesn't happen. Having encountered this problem before I didn't waste my time waiting and instead exited my client, forcing my character to log out and thus get kicked out of the party. Upset having spent a quite costly key for a run I couldn't even participate in, I requested that my officer Zeakstarwind issue a support ticket. For some reason, my browser won't let me submit one, nay, the page doesn't even load! After he finished writing the ticket, I ran around in Haven spinning like a cursed goddess (wonder if anyone'll get the reference) and GM Coriolis arrived at my party standing by. He briefly asked what had happened and sent me a PM to confirim the situation. I am then transferred back to my awaiting party, thank Coriolis for his assistance, and carried on to conquer Gloaming Wildwoods one last time before progressing to Level 2. Glad I didn't have to miss out on that run!

Thank you for your service, Coriolis!

Sadly, Retro-Lad's computer crashed and said he would forfeit the run to get it fixed. :(

All you guys are so lucky, you met the GMs.
Last time i did a /tell to HYPERION and he did not respond =( now i know that he is sleeping XD.

I would also like to meet Aphrodite, Helios, Crimson, Cronos, Atlanta, and other GREEK names that the GMs used as their names.

LOL, They are the names of GODS and They are the Gods of this..... ooooh a cookie =D [noms]

Ahem, as i was saying.... They are Gods of this best GAME!

lol Why the hell did i say that o_O

Well my friend called a Game master using a phone or other things, he was lucky to hear the GMs voice >_<', continue, and then he said that the Gm will fix it.
He didn't show up though because my problem was....... ummm

At the Jk run 2nd floor at the upper left gate, we finished all the jellies n' we got stuck in there, the key is still at the cage. LOL. We sat there looking stupid
we waited too long and i rampaged! i was about to RAM the GAtE when the gate open, so i slipped at the back of the key then my teammates laughed.
