Everybody usually complains about the flourishes and their OPness. Having them do half normal and half piercing would lessen the damage most people receive (sorry divine set people), and in turn would help equalize it's damage output.
I got this idea mostly from a grind of mine's post (won't mention name if he doesn't want it), and I though it was pretty good.
As usual, I'm open to opinions. Who knows? This might be an absolutely horrible idea for all I know.

I'm the "grind" of his,

and I approve this message.

However, I only think it's necessary on the wide first swing. This still keeps the high damage to pierce-weak enemies in PvE, where combos are safer, and maintains a degree of armor-busting when trying to break a guardian's shield... all the while making cancel-boost-step maneuvers less crippling, which should be good for balance. It even fits flavor-wise, since good piercing swords were never really very sharp on the sides, only on the tip.

Yeah I dunno...

Maybe they can make new weapons like that, but I doubt they'd go back and change a weapon.

WTF? Why the hell did I say

WTF? Why the hell did I say grind? Oh forget it. Stupid auto-correct.

Anyways, I think it would work on the first swing. This way, less damage to everyone (positive for flourish hatred), but same speed and range (positive for flourish lovers).
