Have you ever been playing Spiral Knights and then something comes up (such as your parents want you for something or your pet starts going crazy…whatever it might be) and you think it will just take a few minutes and it turns out it takes much longer?
This happened to me last night…
I was doing a Tier 3 run (Iron Bishop Gate) from Emberlight to the “safe house” at depth 23. I was the party leader and I had another knight with me who I did not know (I’m 4* and from what I could tell he was also 4*). We had been doing pretty well and had made it to depth 22 when my dad called me to come to another room. I thought it would only take a few minutes so I told the person with me that I would be right back and that I would probably be gone a few minutes.
It turns out that we are having a family discussion/meeting…
It was taking a long time and I was able to get away just long enough to “shake” my character and convey to my teammate that my absence had to do with my parents and it would be a long while before it was done.
I ended up getting logged off due to idleness and got back on not knowing whether he (or she) had waited till I got logged off or went up due to the crazy amount of time I was taking to come back. To make matters worse I had not left the arsenal station thing and my fellow knight had so there would have been no way of getting my health capsules or vials.
I feel kind of bad about the whole thing and as I do not know the knight’s name I have no way of contacting him.
In hindsight I wish I would have gone out and dropped him some stuff and then went solo or logged out so as not to be a hindrance to my teammate, but stupid me, I did not.
If you know or find out that you're gonna be longer than, say, 5 minutes, then by all means quit the game or at least solo yourself out. Don't say, "brb, gonna eat lunch." or "gotta do the dishes" If you are the party leader and therefore can't be removed, then please have the courtesy to remove yourself.
